Waterford lost five league matches by a total of nine points. Two by a single point and one by two points. Not as if anyone in the first tier were streets ahead of them including finalists. I believe it will be an advantage to play second tier next year. Giving a chance to the young players to establish themselves with less pressure. It's an insult to the teams in the second tier saying it is not challenging as there are good teams also , especially in winter time. As regards getting out of Munster if anyone believes we should not have been at least the third team out this year are being disingenuous. However the facts are we were not and that is what matters. Beat the finalist who would have been eliminated. I don't know what is in store for Waterford going forward but as good as the top guys this year. What about if he supports Limerick Anyway your own county need not be so condescending. It is twenty since Ye won an All Ireland and over the past forty years Ye have won just five of them. Very average for a county of your huge Hurling Population and really great Tradition.

Six Leinsters will never equate with six Munsters.

I am as neutral as can be in this match-up, just wanted to see a great game which I was treated to thankfully. And in general I don't like whinging about referee calls - it doesn't do anyone or any team any favors to harp on about a referee, Take it and move on, you'll get the breaks the next day. But in saying that, that free at the very end that wasn't given is unforgivable. The biggest play of the year, 1 ref, 2 linesmen and 2 umpires all watching what exactly? Congrats to the Banner and commiserations Cork, A very tough one to take. Cbar (Mayo) - Posts: 332 - 23/07/2024 14:26:58 2560936 Link 0 |

ah man this is so good....... I have read this over and back with a smile on my face. Clare - Senior Hurling Champions 2024!!!!!! Im 38 years of age and have been at 4 All ireland finals Clare have won. That is a very good return given our history pre 1995. Its a pity that you would have clowns here trying to knock it but cest la vie. Thats more on them than anything else. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 23/07/2024 14:46:46 2560938 Link 0 |

It doesn't matter who teams play in a final once the result goes their way..tipp beat Antrim in one,it was an all Ireland win and goes down as one..Clare are all Ireland champions and that's what the record books will say for all time..congrats to all across the river..on the last free that should have been given, how many people actually saw it in real time without benefit of all the replays..no cork player complained or went to ref looking for the free..every county can have complaints about different decisions but it just doesn't boil down to one on the field decision..how many shots at goal did cork forwards have in last 5 minutes and miss..it's a shame that such a classic is being discussed on just that last decision.. Kilkenny needed another result to go their way in 2022 on the last day of the Round Robin. They were gone out of the championship if Dublin had of beaten Galway that year, and that was the only year since 2018 that Galway beat Dublin in Championship in 5 attempts since 2018.

All the same to me, I'm a Connacht man! However, there's a smugness about some Munster counties that Leinster counties find annoying and they call it the Smugster Championship. Crashingwaves (Galway) - Posts: 74 - 23/07/2024 15:20:41 2560951 Link 0 |
Yes, when the All Ireland final wiinners roll of honour is being complied, the word "tainted" will forever more be put beside Clare for 2024!! I hear they are half way up to M7 to return it to Croke Park as we speak... county man (Limerick) - Posts: 1117 - 23/07/2024 15:20:43 2560952 Link 0 |
Haha thats a good one- an attention seeker on an anonymous forum! I dont think I've ever read anything so stupid in my life!!!! I've been following Limerick in Munster since before 1996. Since the early 90s in fact. Most of the teams I follow in any sport haven't been very successful truth be told. In soccer I've followed Millwall since the early 80s, and Cliftonville since 1990. In MLB I've followed the Cubs since the 80s, and in NFL the Bears since then also, on account of AFKN being the only English language tv station in Korea at the time. In cricket I follow South Africa and Zimbabwe unless they are playing Ireland, in rugby Ireland and Ulster, and South Africa if Ireland arent playing them. I lived in Botswana in the 70s. Tbh like most people down your way you have been very dismissive of Wexford in several posts, so I get great joy out of winding you up. Some questions for you- A- Which of Wexford and Cork most recently won any Championship silverware? B- Who won the last Championship meeting between Wexford and Cork? Obviously you have a far better record historically than we do, but maybe you should consider the above 2 questions when cutting at me about 1996;-) Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 13862 - 23/07/2024 15:23:43 2560954 Link 0 |
We don't need a history of your life. You're an anonymous poster on an anonymous forum, and we don't need to know what you had for breakfast!

Yes, it was a great game but I did see Hoggy question the referee, who incidentally had a bird's eye view. It's irrelevant if Cork missed scores or not. I'm not questioning the integrity or competence of the referee, or his umpires, but a jersey pull under the nose of a referee is a free!
