Rest in peace John.

He took us to the promised land of a Connacht title in 94 first time in 67 years since 1927. Could have repeated it again in 95 only for Ja Fallons late winning point in Carrick on Shannon for Galway. An absolute gentleman and someone who will always hold fond memories in my heart. Winning a Connacht title with Leitrim and winning Sam with Galway are seismic events.

Rest easy legend

RIP John - won Connacht titles with 3 different counties, 7 titles in total I think it was, along with 2 All Ireland titles.

Rest easy.

He won more than once. A gentleman and a great football Manager. I was shocked by the news but I had thought that he didn't sound well on Morning Ireland a couple of weeks ago paying tribute to Tommie Gorman. May he rest in peace.

Maybe a reference to not winning it with his native Mayo. Ray Silke suggested on radio that his one regret (not that he ever mentioned it) was winning (or even seeing) Mayo win a senior All Ireland. Rest easy Johno. RIP.

Would be a reference. Pre-planned flight back into Knock Airport in 1989 to make sure Mayo was the first county they stepped back into had they won the All-Ireland.
