If it was the other way around and the football Feile was in a county who wanted to move hurling championship games would Wexford etc be so supportive?" What we asked for was just that the hurling quarter-finals be played on Sunday instead. There was nothing in our request about the venue." Croke Park had given a commitment to televise the hurling All Ireland quarter finals. They equally had given the same commitment to the semi Finals of the Tailteann Cup plus they were fixed months ago for Croke Park.. Therein lies the problem. Was it fair to flip the games to accommodate Wexford request, I think the answer is No. Is it fair to Wexford that they are hosting the All Ireland Feile and lots of people are going too miss the game as a result. Absolutely not. The problem is that the fixtures are a mess. There's not a minute that's not accounted for once the championship starts and this is suffocating the life out of the games. Thankfully people have stayed away and with so much apathy out there I believe there will be changes next year. All the counties involved are getting treated poorly with Wexford obviously the worst affected." I actually agree with all you say, and thank you for acknowledging how unfair the situation is on so many people in Wexford.
I was just making the point that contrary to what the other poster said, Wexford did not ask for the TC semi-finals to be taken out of Croke Park.
If it wasn't for TV commitments, all could have gone ahead on Sunday - the football in Croke Park that day, and the hurling in Thurles. But because of TV commitments, what we thought most likely would be football in Croke Park on Saturday, and hurling in Thurles on Sunday. Point remains that neither of those things would have involved taking the football out of Croke Park.
Now, I can acknowledge that switching the football to the Saturday would also have been unfair to some people in Sligo, Down, Antrim, and Laois, who may not have been able to go to Croke Park on the Saturday, but who could go on the Sunday all right.
But I'd wager that number is nowhere near what's literally a couple of thousand Wexford people who are bound by Féile, as either players, parents or other family members of players, mentors, volunteers, match officials, etc.
These are all people with an obvious love of hurling. But basically, they're all being told 'not only can you not go to see your county team play their biggest game of the year so far, but chances are you won't even be able to watch it on TV'.
To me, that's hugely unfair, and much more so than asking the football teams and supporters from those other counties to travel to Croke Park on Saturday rather than Sunday would have been. Particularly as they'd only just qualified for Croke Park that weekend anyway, so it's not as though any of them already had arrangements re. travel or accommodation or anything else.
Anyway, what's done is done. Best of luck to Sligo. Was actually up there last year for our Football League match in Markievicz Park - was my first time there, and it certainly deserves its reputation as one of the most scenic grounds in the country.
Have to say though I'd hate to be watching a match from the front row of the stand there, where the seats are dug out to a couple of feet below the level of the pitch!!

@oneoff - I genuinely have no idea how any reasonable person could infer that my post basically says 'who cares about the Tailteann Cup?'.
I acknowledge that going to Croke Park is a big deal for all involved, and that it would have been unfair on some of them if they couldn't go on Saturday for some reason, but would have been able to go on Sunday all right.
I'm just suggesting however that there's probably a larger number of Wexford people who are unable to go to the hurling because of how things weren't changed, and making it much more unfair again is the fact that they probably won't even be able to watch on TV, because of how Féile is structured throughout the entire day.
That's a long way from 'who cares about the Tailteann Cup?'. For what it's worth, I think it's a very worthwhile competition myself, and I'd love it if Wexford were still involved, or if we managed to go further in it next year. With all due respect, I think you've picked this one up very wrongly too.

Again, I fail to see how any reasonable person could infer that.
Yes, I'm saying it's likely there would be less people affected by changing the TC semi-finals from Sunday to Saturday, than the estimated 2,500 or more Wexford people affected by how Féile takes place the same day as the hurling quarter-finals.
But that doesn't mean there would be no issues with changing the day of the football. It just means it wouldn't have been an issue for as many people.
And even the football supporters who could travel Sunday but not Saturday could probably still arrange things to at least be able to watch their match on TV. The people tied up in Féile, for the large part, won't even be able to do that. That too means that switching the football would have been less of an issue. Not that it would have been no issue.
Do you understand now?

Also if you were dropped on earth and read the posts from wexford posters you would be under the assumption that they were the kingpins of hurling. Ffs they haven't been in a final for nearly 30 yrs, they have 6 Al's one more than their footballers and 30 less than Kilkenny

I haven't even said that I personally wanted things changed. To be quite honest, makes little difference to me, as my own club is not involved in Féile and I can travel to Thurles early on Saturday anyway. I was merely explaining why Wexford made the request in the first place.
More importantly, the only reason I got involved in the discussion in the first place was to correct your wildly inaccurate claim that "Wexford wanted the Tailteann Cup semi-finals taken out of Croke Park".
If you paid more attention to what was going on in the first place, you wouldn't have made that statement, I wouldn't have become involved, and this tiresome roundabout of still having to try explain things s....l....o....w....l....y to you wouldn't be taking place.
I'm done with it. Good day.

Despite myself and my better intentions, here I am to answer you again.
First let me suggest that to save us both any further trouble going forward, you this time consider what I actually say, and not what you only think I'm saying.
First - you claim 'fans of teams in the TC don't matter as there won't be that many of them'.
Not true. Again, what I suggested was that a switch in the days would probably have discommoded fewer TC football fans, than not switching the date has discommoded thousands of people in the Wexford hurling community. Not that it wouldn't have affected any, and not that they don't matter. It may have been the lesser of two evils, but even using that statement shows I acknowledge it would still have been an evil for some.
Second - 'probably hadn't made any arrangements so moving it shouldn't have mattered to them'.
Partly true. The fact that the four counties involved had only qualified for the semi-finals last weekend means by definition that none of the teams or supporters had any pre-existing arrangements for Dublin this weekend. A change would of course still have mattered to some, but not as much as if there were hotels booked or train tickets bought with a view to the match being on a different day.
You seem to have a real problem in differentiating between 'not as much' and 'not at all'.
This time, I really am done. Go and have the last word if you want it. Am sure it'll be as wrong as everything else you've posted here since here.
