Well said. There was plenty of coverage of both football and hurling on RTÉ . I think there should be more. There were 31 live games on RTÉ and 38 live games on GAAGO. That should be switched. RTÉ should have more live games than GAAGO. I paid €79 for GAAGO. That worked out at €2•07 a game. It was excellent value for money.

There are a lot of ridiculous assertions and attacks from both sides here. We all need to realise that both RTE and GAA are making a bucket of money off this. systematic (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 02/07/2024 13:07:00 2556496 Link 0 |
How would you ensure there are enough digital broadcast spec cameras, cameraman/woman and sound crew for every game and pay for them?

Stop half of the games shown didn't even have any sound! Go away with your sound crew. I've been at my fair share of games this year - for the clips broadcast on sat/sun game, it was one camera. At most 16 senior intercounty games per week and some of those need better equipment sure but at most 16 cameras for the clips is not a huge ask. I commented at the time that RTE didn't even have a clip of the historic win for London over Offaly! The "spec" as you say varies wildly - check out the footage of Laois v NY a few weeks ago and compare. All of the cameras at games were freelancers - that might be a start for RTE to actually start having a their own instead of farming it out. Not a huge ask to have 5/10 mins of clips for each game and 10 mins of analysis. systematic (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 02/07/2024 17:08:22 2556569 Link 1 |
You didn't answer my question.

Not a good faith question.

Clubber show more games each weekend then GAAGo and at a cheaper rate. Loitv is 7euro a game and show every game in both divisions. Galway gaa manage to show clubs games. No wonder rte has ended up like it has when people like you have such low expectations

Clubbers production values aren't anywhere near gaagos so of course they can show more games.

Clubber show games at a far lower spec and production value than gaago. Of course it's cheaper. Your comparisons are not right KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 03/07/2024 22:13:28 2556826 Link 1 |
You didn't it answer it either.

I'm not required to answer good faith questions. You seem to be asking me about logistics and that's a question for RTE not me. Most clubs are able to get reasonable quality camera footage for between 50-100 euro per game. Need slightly better cameras for tv quality but sure if RTE don't have those cameras then nobody does. I know a few intercounty teams are using ex RTE cameras to video their own games! systematic (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 04/07/2024 09:17:07 2556861 Link 0 |
Yes, get rid of the youtube videos of the lads talking about the best corner backs from 20 years ago and show more games instead. I find they are trying to copy roy keane and neville on youtube, they only get a couple 100 views. I would rather get more games then pay these ex players having a pub chat. Also during the coverage it has a unreal about of adverts compared to other streaming sites. They charge big money and also have excessive adverts combo (Galway) - Posts: 10 - 05/07/2024 19:55:43 2557107 Link 1 |
I said the same thing about the ads feels like commercial break every 5 mins during the half time break and after match. Also a joke that the ads are still there in the playback version after the match... systematic (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 06/07/2024 13:07:38 2557184 Link 1 |
Much like the rte player but more ads. If you watch rte player on the laptop and open another tab to read something when the ads are paying the rte player will stop so you have to go back onto the page and forced to watch the ads. No other streaming page does that. Amazing rte can do that but anything else is too much effort.

People whinged and moaned when the matches weren't on RTÉ. Now we have people whinging and moaning when the games are on RTÉ. The amount of whingers and moaners in this country is unreal.

If you were able to read you'd see I was on about GAAGo M8

Another moaner on about a great service. It worked out at €2•07 a game.

Feck off about that fake stat - I don't really watch hurling before semi final stage so automatically up to 4 per game. I was at every Galway game this year and a good handful of club games on off weeks so had very very little interest in watching league games in horrid weather and early round provincial championship games. Let's face it, during league and early provincial there are plenty of terrible matches and you can usually only depend on 1 or 2 good matches a week which is not bad! But a bit of a crapshoot when you need to pay for every game to get any sort of value. No need to shill it so hard m8! They ain't paying you to watch the games are they?! I don't hate the service, I listed a few ways they could improve, and I think some of the discourse around the tender process and the games selection could have been better. I personally bought 1 game on it this year - but I was at the game, so only watched playback. I'm a bit old school I think the current players should receive lion's share of the funding. systematic (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 08/07/2024 09:33:53 2557622 Link 1 |
