Why?

I'm sure he means the previous president but that's probably to much for you to decipher… Burns is more interested in renting stadiums out rather than GAA matches taking place in them…

Another disappointment. More interested in having GAA suit other interests on lots of things. Telescoped championships and Harding over pitches to rival sports is shortsighted organisational desth wish. Seems to be common . BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3688 - 21/09/2024 21:49:26 2571213 Link 2 |
As is the great Joe. Form is temporary. Pedigree is permanent. https://hoganstand.com/Article/Index/333672 foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2352 - 23/09/2024 16:54:20 2571488 Link 0 |
Barney, If you were GAA president there'd be a moat and drawbridge around the organisation and space to pour oil on anyone without pure Irish blood who comes near the place. Soccer and Rugby came and went from Croker years ago and nobody died or nothing was lost because of It. The same would be the case if it happend again. Move with the times and stop living in 1916 with your keyboard loaded. There's more to life than division.

Some players are certainly being looked after or helped from an employment point of view, in order to encourage them to stay. It's not even a secret. Mickey Harte was quite open that they worked on getting Cathal McShane a good job in order to help him stay here a few years ago, when it looked like he was all set to go the AFL. And the top players being especially well looked after, in order to hold on to them, it could be suggested. A lot of it comes down to player ambition also. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4535 - 05/12/2024 15:44:22 2582505 Link 0 |

Is it easier for the girls to get on 1st teams over there?

Yes, a lot easier as there just aren't the same numbers playing the women's game over there. Cora Staunton said that the talent pool is quite shallow as the game is relatively new for women, so it's easier for them to make an impact. Our LGFA players are already at very high level when they get over there, given how much ladies football has developed over the past couple of decades. Was it burns who signed up to all these club rugby games in croke park? He really is using this position to go into politics in my opinion. Kew (Galway) - Posts: 248 - 22/01/2025 14:04:06 2586959 Link 0 |

Burns talking about contracts and transfers in his speech, the same lines from the BBC promotion video today. He did the same thing last year I remember. clearly the GAA have a theme for the finals now. I wonder why RTE are not involved but the BBC are? He really is pushing the we are amateurs line recently. I thought he indulged himself in sanctimonius rubbish. Who was he talking to? some non interested people in the UK? Save us the speeches. He should be more concerned with looking at what was a poor hurling championship. Two dead rubbers on the same day in Leinster and Munster. No shows from 4-5 counties. Apalling leinster Final. The man can't do wrong for right with you. The entire ethos of the organisation is amateur as you well know, should he be out chatting about the weather instead on important days like yesterday? Such nonsense.

The gaa president speech should not be remembered on an all Ireland final day, it is the captain's speech that should be. But you can't be saying too much about it here.

Yes burns is been self indulgent and getting out there and making it about him. What was story with speech on OConnell ST, It seems pretty obvious this is all a pre cursor to a run at politics jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1630 - 21/07/2025 10:42:16 2626811 Link 0 |
