More interested in having GAA suit other interests on lots of things. Telescoped championships and Harding over pitches to rival sports is shortsighted organisational desth wish. Seems to be common . Barney, If you were GAA president there'd be a moat and drawbridge around the organisation and space to pour oil on anyone without pure Irish blood who comes near the place. Soccer and Rugby came and went from Croker years ago and nobody died or nothing was lost because of It. The same would be the case if it happend again. Whilst on the subject of GAA players, men and women, moving to Aus for football, the cash incentives are massive. If successful, they are somewhat life changing I would imagine. Which makes me think, are counties/companies/individuals giving players a helping hand so to speak, in order to try to persuade them from going over..? Personally, I think some players are being looked after here, in order to help persuade them to stay. Just my personal opinion. Of course, heading over is not for all, and some try it and come back, eg CK, but certain players would be a perfect fit over there and are either homebirds or are being looked after financially, college, job or whatever. But let's not say it too loud..... lol Certainly, at the minute the amount of female players heading over is on the increase. And more power to them to give it a try. Some players are certainly being looked after or helped from an employment point of view, in order to encourage them to stay. It's not even a secret. Mickey Harte was quite open that they worked on getting Cathal McShane a good job in order to help him stay here a few years ago, when it looked like he was all set to go the AFL. And the top players being especially well looked after, in order to hold on to them, it could be suggested. A lot of it comes down to player ambition also. Cora Staunton said that the talent pool is quite shallow as the game is relatively new for women, so it's easier for them to make an impact. Our LGFA players are already at very high level when they get over there, given how much ladies football has developed over the past couple of decades. Burns talking about contracts and transfers in his speech, the same lines from the BBC promotion video today. He did the same thing last year I remember. clearly the GAA have a theme for the finals now. I wonder why RTE are not involved but the BBC are? He really is pushing the we are amateurs line recently. He should be more concerned with looking at what was a poor hurling championship. Two dead rubbers on the same day in Leinster and Munster. No shows from 4-5 counties. Apalling leinster Final.
