Replying To togoutlads:  "That Derry - Dublin league final was fabulous entertainment. What a game! Delighted for Derry. To those perma-critics of Gaelic football, have a look at that game and tell us if you're not entertained! Riveting stuff for neutrals, never mind the teams involved."
True but this was 2 of the 3 best teams in the game.

Gripping game and delighted for Derry. Conor Glass is a credit and young McEvoy was a joy to watch. So many positives in a great final from both teams. Thought Jarlath's speech was magnificent. Few clubs could not be inspired by his words. He understands it, in contrast to the insipid words from others before him. Maith sibh Doire.

Brilliant match. Very entertaining. Both teams were excellent. How did the ref think that was a free in to Dublin at the end of normal time?

Very enjoyable game. Derry were excellent for most of it but you have to give Dublin great credit for not giving up. Derry have some lovely footballers who really know how to play the game. They have great self belief in themselves and don't let reputations stop them. It's a breath of fresh air for a side to play and beat Dublin as it gives everyone else some hope. It shows how well conditioned, fit and physical Dublin are when some of the Derry fellas just bounced off them in the melees. Derry wouldn't be behind the door physically themselves.

He made a lot more than one mistake. That said it was a great game to watch very entertaining and enjoyable. Will be interesting to see how both teams progress in the championship. Probably only three teams capable of winning Sam this year with Donegal as a good outside bet.

Replying To MesAmis:  "Very enjoyable game. Delighted with Dublin not throwing in the towel and getting back level twice. Penos are penos. Good that we didn't lose the game in play.

Derry deserving Division 1 champions. Topped the division and were the better team today even if they didn't get the job done in play. Soft free for Dubs in normal time to level it to be fair."
Thats very gracios of you Mesamis but id expect nothing less. You have always been a very fair poster. My own opinion was soft YES but it WAS a free. Also Fenton s was a yellow NOT a red. However Derry the better team and deserved their win.

Division 2 league final wasn't bad either, and now we have a scenario where Division 1 and Division 2 winners play each other in first round of championship. McGeeney, the Armagh manager said the performance was "flat" maybe because of tough league game against Cork the previous week!

You think that was the only good game lately? The championship format is the problem not the game itself.

Congrats to Derry, would have been very unfair if we had won that on penalties. Overall better team on the day and lovely to get a bit of tin this time of year. Well done to both teams. delighted with the character a lot of young Dubs showed. That game will be priceless for them.

Delighted with the league program, way beyond expectation, some serious squad depth, development, some lads have really kicked on and developed in the last 12 months and becoming serious options and the emergence of the likes of youngsters particularly Breathnach, Clancy and McGinnis, has been a huge highlight. Credit to Dessie.

We can be really pleased with how the league has gone and its outcomes. In a way im sorry its over as there has been so much to look at in development. But i imagine a lot of the lads will play through Leinster.

With Fitzy, Cluxton, McCarthy, Jack, a fully fit Mannion and Gannon and Costello to come back we are in a good spot.

But the belonged to Derry, very worthy winners and congrats, hope everyone enjoyed the day,

Delighted for Derry, one of the cleanest teams I have seen and making rubbish of the whole "nice guys never win".

After one of the great finals, only Pat Spillane could make it about Kerry.

Classy post. It was a great day for Derry but we have no doubts the Dubs will be the team to beat come July!

Now that Derry are back and the best team in the country any chance that ye"ll take Brolly back home to Derry. I don't know what Mayo done to deserve that punishment.

Looked like a silly reaction from someone of his experience for a soft enough sending off. Glass and Rogers had a good stranglehold of midfield throughout. You are right, Fenton didn't even get a shot off yesterday.

Great game from what i remember lol. The highlight was seeing Brolly a few seats over after claiming less that a year ago he would never go to another derry match (maybe he will say he was there for donegal)

If the 4 bookies favourites for the championship (Dublin, Kerry, Derry, and Galway) were all to make it through to the All Ireland semi finals this year, (by winning their provincial finals, qualifiers etc) would Dublin & Derry meet again in the semi-final or possible final?
In other words what is the provincial draw this year?

Open draw (sort of) for Semis.
The old rota thing is gone.
