Spillane did in his book. Said most if his stories about talking to people on the way into Croke Park were untrue. Former Dub footballer Paddy Andrews also said half his stories about them were lies.

So you saying people in Mayo aren't buying him pints everytime he walks into a pub.

The drawn out fiasco to give 2 All Ireland tickets away involving Marty Morrisey and Cora Staunton taking pot shots at Kielty was embarrassing… You'd think they were giving a house away….!!!!"
He wanted to take over the show, not seemed to want to take over the show.. Wants to be the loudest voice in the room and always have the last word. I think at times he felt insecure on Sunday Game beside Spillane and O'Rourke and had no reason to be. They were better footballers than him but he was a talented footballer, talented sportsman and can be very sharp witted. A nice guy but very annoying when he doesn't seem to respect other's opinions.

Brolly's love in with dublin is painful, always on about what great humans they are, was compromised when analyzing their matches mentioning how he met them socially (maybe those stories never happened). In all his years commenting on them he never mentioned the advantages that they enjoy.

Brolly continues his ramblings today in his column talking about the final minutes of the 2017 final including details about how MCDM love the closing minutes of these games and how he started some light sledging towards Aidan O Shea, it even includes what he said to O Shea. This is truly remarkable when you consider Michael Dara was an unused sub that year.

Final minutes of the 2017 final? was that not the time that Lee Keegan threw his Gps at Dean Rock to try and make him miss the match winning free? MD was out injured with a cruciate injury in 2017.
2016 final is the one Brolly must have meant, the year Mayo scored the 2 own goals.
I never watch the Late Late but I had a look at the Brolly and MD segment, Joe would make a great politician, never shuts up.

Is he though? Lots of people would disagree. I doubt Marty M has him on his Christmas card list, nor the O'Sheas.

Of course he is very sensitive about any perceived slight on himself or anyone he likes.

In his mind Dublin are wonderful and Mayo were losers. Yet the dubs only barely beat them and have all the advantages, so a real lack of critical analysis.

The Dubs knew how to close out tight games, we didn't.

Is it not true that Mayo did contrive to loose all those big games so Brolly is not wrong about that… I'd say he like a most of the other neutral supporters all over the country just got fed up of Mayo caving in against Dublin in every Final… You are right when you say Dublin barely beat them but the key words there are "beat them"….:..

Brolly always implies though that Dublin beat them because of greater mental strength, which is complete nonsense. Dublin beat them because they had an incredible subs bench who got them over the line when Mayo s legs ( and indeed Kerry s in other games) were gone.

Entirely coincidental he's at the opposite end of the political spectrum to you then I take it?

Kerry also lost close games against Dublin and indeed games in which they looked like it was their to lose - 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, No one calls them "losers." Nor ought they. Teams that consistently compete at highest levels and who lose mostly do so against better teams.

Mayo are no more losers than the Cats, Galway. Clare etc against the current Limerick team. The losers never get that far.

It takes mental strength though to decide if and when and who to sub in and out of big games.

Brolly can be entertaining but any of his anecdotes should be taken with a large pinch of salt.
He does do great charity work though and should be commended for that. He certainly put his money where his mouth is in that regard.

Yeah. A real touch of genius to bring Diarmuid Connolly on for Eoghan O'Gara in the 2017 final. .

What has any of that to do with what Brolly has said about Morrissey, Aidan O'Shea, Seán Cavanagh and others?

My politics be far closer than his to other members of the Brolly family, as an aside.
