Dunboyne v Dunshaughlin is the final. Whoever wins this will win final by 6 plus. Think Dunboyne might edge it on Saturday. Should be a cracking game. Gaelic_Games (Meath) - Posts: 21 - 01/10/2024 15:23:03 2572706 Link 2 |
Best of luck to the lads this evening. Such a difference this year, everything looks so much more planned and composed. Last year's late slip to Ratoath seems to be a lesson well learned. aghref (Meath) - Posts: 150 - 05/10/2024 08:36:03 2573113 Link 0 |
Congratulations to Dunshaughlin. Ruairi kinsella tore Dunboyne apart, hopefully he can have a big year for meath. Dunshaughlin man for man are just a better team than dunboyne. Thought the standard of football was desperate. The winner of Skryne/tones will have a great chance of winning the final. Sheridan2010louth (Meath) - Posts: 180 - 05/10/2024 21:40:22 2573196 Link 0 |
I would disagree with you there. I thought Dunboyne looked the better team overall. Cleaned out Gray in midfield had Costello and Mitchell wrapped up and were creating plenty of chances but when it comes down to it it's you have to do the business up top and Dunboyne didn't yesterday. They must have kicked 3 or 4 times the amount of wides Dunshaughlin did and that's where they lost it obviously. Agree with you re Kinsella he was exceptional. On yesterday's evidence I don't think the final is a formality. Blackspot09 (Meath) - Posts: 1001 - 06/10/2024 09:09:42 2573216 Link 0 |
Ratoath.mudt be very disappointed. Gave away 4 goals to Dunshaughlin. But that's sport. Can't expect to peak with dual players nowadays Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 549 - 06/10/2024 15:04:08 2573258 Link 0 |
Ye Id say Rathkenny are very disappointed that they gave away 8 goals to Ratoath as well.

Two interesting semi finals and they were the complete opposite of what I expected. UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 402 - 06/10/2024 19:54:42 2573320 Link 1 |
Have to eat my words about saying the Tones were ultra defensive and boring to watch. What a game, what excitement and the Tones scoring twice as many goals today than the previous four championship games combined. madmeath (Meath) - Posts: 83 - 06/10/2024 20:08:09 2573326 Link 0 |
One thing about the Tones their main players always show up on the big days, but by god they have quite a few very limited players and a couple that are half way down the other side of the hill, they shouldn't have a chance in the final but they will push Dunshaughlin all the way. Great entertainment today, Skyrne very naive but gave absolutely everything, big call to disallow the last minute goal, looked incredibly harsh.

lets not forget they were playing a poor Skryne team who made it to a relegation final last year They only managed 10 scores in normal time.

It looked like a square ball to me, he was well in the square before the ball arrived into it.

Both Tones & Skryne deserve huge credit for what was the game of the championship. Skyrne will feel hard done by. It looked like a blatant black card in extra time when Ciaran Lenehan was pulled down, and the square ball decision. Skyrne have been a breath of fresh air, and for me lit up the knockout stages with their brand of football, that will be no consolation to them, though. The 2 semi-finals were chalk & cheese, Dunboyne & Dunshaughlin looked 2 teams playing with fear which led to a fairly dull contest. It will be an intriguing final and very difficult to call but on the weekends evidence I'd edge slightly towards Tones. Northroyal55 (Meath) - Posts: 8 - 07/10/2024 09:30:02 2573400 Link 1 |
Great game in PT yesterday. End to end stuff, mistakes galore both on the field and on the sideline. Refreshing to see teams having a good old "go" at it, attacking from all directions. Plenty of controversy as well, square ball that was, blacks cards that weren't, dubious substitution, it had it all. Won't comment here on them as there will be almost as many opinions as there were spectators BUT the game did show that Gaelic Football can be a brilliant game when played in a free flowing manner as we seen yesterday. Thank you Skryne and Wolfe Tones and indeed Cormac Reilly and his team. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 1077 - 07/10/2024 10:54:17 2573423 Link 1 |

The one thing from the two semi finals that was evident is the lack of a marquee forward who can kick 8+ points at club level. UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 402 - 07/10/2024 11:18:55 2573432 Link 0 |
Well I thought Dunboyne and Dunsaughlin would go to extra time and really Dunboyne had the chance to do that but fluffed it. 2 very good teams cancelled each other out both strong in the same areas. It was never going to be a classic but Dunsaughlin are still odds on favourites for the championship. I thought A free running Skryne would have to much for a poor Tones team and it looked just like that until the black card turned the game on it's head. Tones scored 2-1 in that time and looked for all the world the winners but how do you describe what happened after that a rollercoaster of a game. I still think Dunsaughlin are by far and away the best team in the county but Tones know how to win even when all logic says they shouldn't latouche25 (Meath) - Posts: 531 - 07/10/2024 11:23:38 2573436 Link 0 |
I felt the ref got both these decision correct. I was in line with the square and the player definitely entered it before the ball so the goal was correct ruled out. I don't think there was a clear enough pull down and it was more of a tackle so yellow card was correct. Maestro (Meath) - Posts: 584 - 07/10/2024 12:16:05 2573450 Link 0 |
No next two weeks is hectic, you should have plenty of spare time though

Credit to defenders too. Thought O Neill was brilliant in keeping a dangerous campion at bay. Sean Ryan was solid as a rock against probably the best forward in the county in Matty Costello. Lavin showed glimpses of his brilliant best against Mitchell although enough can't be said about Mitchell's quality from the dead ball. Ciaran McCarrick took Michael Murphy completely out of the game. Excited for what has potential to be a great final but think tones will just about get over the line but can't write off the dunsh young guns! houndinbound (Meath) - Posts: 22 - 07/10/2024 15:17:24 2573483 Link 1 |
