Can't see it happening again. That was Covid times and they were mad to reduce games if they could

Think it will be a 5 in row, when Kilkenny had there golden period you could see Tipp were primed to go toe to toe with them, I don't see anyone like that at the moment, Clare have given them plenty of it but have a bad record in Croke Park over the last decade. I think Cork will come strong the next few years but might not be at the required level yet. TerribleFootwork (Wexford) - Posts: 1760 - 19/03/2024 22:07:58 2532257 Link 0 |

Interesting post Pat! Tell me more about this Abbotstown, centre of excellence! Etc, etc, etc, Sounds fascinating! Should AI finals be played in the Gaelic Grounds? Why would Dublin need a "Fofunnd me"? You argue so many Interesting points! Onion_Sack (Dublin) - Posts: 256 - 19/03/2024 23:03:13 2532263 Link 0 |
I really hope they do it. They have been magnificent champions. It's going to be tough tho. The provincial championships are so one sided. Munster is going to be harder than last year cos Cork are a lot stronger imo. I wouldn't dismiss Waterford either, think they'll take points off teams. I think it'll be Limerick, clare and Cork but I won't be backing that. Anyway let's hope Limerick achieve immortality and shut the cats up for another while. Aye, fierce hard for Dublin to get out of Leinster whilst the Munster hurling championship is a doddle!

What about Galway? If they can keep 15 players on the pitch, they surely have a chance of semis at least. What about Tipp??

Well if they both qualify for the league final it should be doubled up with their Munster championship clash. The only reason not to do so is out of respect to the sponsors. It beats me why Alliance have kept up their sponsorship of a competition that in hurling has been massively downgraded in value. What a non-event of a game it will be if both reach the final. Would both teams field their reserve panels or play their regular team under the rules of golf (stand back and observe your opponent from a distance when they are hitting the ball)? Clare and maybe Cork are the only teams I think are capable of stopping Limerick doing 5 in a row. I expect both of those and Limerick to come out of Munster Barring injuries or suspensions I think Limerick will do it and fair play to them if they do. Every team is going to throw the kitchen sink at Limerick this season. The Munster Championship from last year will sharpen the minds and focus so I don't think any complacency will set in. I think Fergal O'Connor, Adam English and Cathal O'Neill will be all credible championship starters with Donnacha O'Dalaigh likely to make the bench. Any loss in form or injuries to any of the established players can be offset with these players emerging. The pressure is going to up a notch from last year and players are all another year of the road so fatigue is going to set in. It is going to take a monumental effort but this team has all the attributes to make history and before the first team to do 5 in a row. journeyman (Limerick) - Posts: 141 - 20/03/2024 15:00:38 2532342 Link 0 |
Christ, did the Limerick PR team write this? At least 1/4 of the known GAA phrases in there! ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1259 - 20/03/2024 15:07:49 2532344 Link 1 |
I definitely think that Clare especially should want to win the League no silverware since 2016 if we were to meet Limerick in League final sure we both know everything about each other what on Earth could we hold up our sleeve. Anyway if you deliberately don't perform in say a League semi or Final no guarantee that you can turn it on for championship. clooney (Clare) - Posts: 960 - 20/03/2024 16:31:56 2532363 Link 2 |
Limerick should all ready have six in a row but for a bit of a quirk. This could happen again and five not achieved. As it stands they are the best team. Really their success is unbelievable. Or is it ? Probably the result of proper management and development of players. Though always a good hurling county but not one of the top elites to be in this position. Can't see us winning it even with 17 or 18 on the pitch. Semi-final like you said is as far we're likely to go at best, I think. Limerick are a phenomenal team and aren't showing any signs of slowing down yet. Motivation won't be a problem, given the chance of history. At the same time, no team in Munster will be trying to make it easy for them. They'll have some right battles, but I see them going all the way. Management can make all the difference. In 1996 we left a man on the sideline, who had scored seven points from play in the Munster Final in 1994. Mike Galligan was always good for 3 or 4 points per game and there were not many of our Forwards, of that era, one could say that about, except Gary Kirby. We deserved to lose that day for that bad decision alone.
