Ulster Schools Victories ... Ssssh

(Oldest Posts First)

Fair dues to my old place, Omagh CBS (Hogan Cup), and to Garron Tower (Paddy Buggy Cup), for winning the senior All-Ireland schools football and hurling last Saturday.

Pathetic begrudgery that, at date of posting this on Monday evening, nobody in Hoganstand seems to be aware of either victory lol - no coverage whatsoever. Even though there was even an article about Brian Dooher's new job.

St. KIllians, Garron Tower didn't win the All Ireland Senior Schools A hurling competion (Croke cup), they won the B competition, the Buggy cup. The A winners were St. Kierans from Kilkenny, they beat St Raphaels, Loughrea, after extra time. Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town won the School B football competition, the Drummond Cup, St Malachys, Castlewellan unfortunately got beat in the C final by 3 points after extra time and Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana unfortunately also got beaten in the D final by a point. 4 Ulster teams in all 4 football finals is impressive with two schools from Donegal competing.

Sure why would they? The headline article on this site at the time of posting is to do with Attractas victory,, we're all too busy poring over that.

Agreed. Most people don't have a cult like affinity to where they once went to school, only really see that with current teachers. Very weird

All of Tyrone's Hogan Cup titles now combine to give the same total as St. Mels Longford's total. So well done on that i guess. Am just messin - Well done.

Co. Derry have 6 Hogan Cups, I think Tyrone have 5.
A school in Derry city won it in 1965 believe it or not.

St. Jarlath's, Tuam sit top of the tree with 12 titles. It is some record. Hogan cup football is some of the best football you'll ever see. The winning teams from Jarlath's always had a big influence on our 9 Senior All-Ireland wins.

There's nothing really new about a Tyrone team giving a Kerry team a good hiding. Seriously, I thought Omagh CBS were very impressive and their display merited better coverage.
