There are alot of similarities between both teams but I think we the journey this year for Limerick is completely different to what Kilkenny had back in 2010. Every game is Munster is going to be a huge battle. This can be an advantage in that the team is more battle hardened but can also prove to be a disadvantage if tiredness both mentally and physically creeps in. Tipp were probably the only real contender to KK back then and probably the gap was closer but you do have more teams contending now with the gap possibly wider. With the round robin system any potential slip ups will be punished so Limerick will need to be at there best through out the season. I think this Limerick team overall has more leaders and not over reliant on any one player although Gillane is probably the one player that is key to the Limerick game plan. I don't think JK would ever play a player with a cruciate injury like Cody did with Shefflin and would trust his squad to get the job done. The pressure is going to be up a level from previous years with 5 in a row never completed before but this team will block out that noise and stick to the process.

Here's a thought. If the GG is unavailable for the Galway game play that game in Ennis. Will give the team a feel of Cusack Park before we play there in the championship.

Big game in group 1B - despite the apathy sometimes to the league both teams are very strong . Two teams qualify for league semi finals which may well be Limerick & Tipperary from the 1B section . If Limerick play to their ability a league title looks very possible . A league semi final and final in thurles might get us a day or two out in late match in thurles. ?

See RTE are at it again looking for their "click bait"

Headline in the sports section of the website says "Hayes out of Limerick Panel to Face Tipperary". The article then goes out to mention that he was found guilty of the two charges and that his sentencing was adjourned until March 20.

You would think any headline in a sports section about the Limerick Hurling team this weekend, would be about players actually playing this weekend for the first time this year, a (i.e. Hurler of the Year Aaron Gillane, Former Hurler of the Year Cian Lynch and Allstar Peter Casey) and not a player not playing

Journalistic integrity and RTE are no longer synonymous with each other and hasn't been for a while. They are the broadcasting equivalent of a red top rag and the chickens have come home to roost.

Back to tomorrow night. Liam cahill really doesn't do any other method than full on. It's as close to a starting 15 they'll get bar the goalkeeper cathal barrett and maybe noel mcgrath who I believe may be used in an impact role this year so pretty full strength for Tipp. They are a good few weeks ahead of limerick so this tees up nicely. Limerick won't be backing off now either and they've named a strong line up too. First match of the year for Gillane Lynch and Peter casey and its great to finally get to see them.

The half back line sees only one regular in Byrnes but still looks imposing and has scoring threats from all 3. Boylan gets another start and really can't complain with hos opportunities. O Dalaigh has had a fine start but this will be a level up. Cam he chip in with another 3 or 4 points.

Flanagan will be itching for minutes in the next 2 matches to put a hand up too. Fergal o connor looks like he's being trusted and isn't far off getting on the 26 at this stage.

I'm looking forward to this. Limerick like it down there and Tipp will be bouncing for a crack off Limerick and are definitely motoring so far. Limerick might get leggy late on as 7 or 8 are playing either their first or second match this season. That said the in house training matches I'm sure are tasty.

There always has to be an angle to beat down the big dog.
The only benefit here is that someone like Gearoid Hegarty who was always portrayed unfairly as the pantomime villain will now be totally forgotten about. The social media nerds who have neither played or been involved in the game will also have serious opinions on all this. Its best to accept it's going to happen and then quietly ignore it.

Exciting looking full forward line named for Limerick this weekend, looking forward to it, hopefully both teams go at it, very strong Tipp team named

Really interested to see how O'Dalaigh gets on against top class experienced backs. If it goes well he really will be putting his hand up for the match day 26 come championship.

Conor Boylan needs a big game to make the Championship 26 in my opinion. It think his touch is a little off and has tried to overplay too much in the games I've seen him play this year. He is now getting the opportunity to play with a playmaker like lynch on his shoulder he just needs to relax and do the simple things right. If he doesn't show up on Saturday, I think we need to look at the more consistent options available.

You proposed they play in ennis when we play clare in championship there in a few weeks. I assumed it was self explanatory. Limerick need permission to play in a neutral venue. Lohan would have a large input in that. Thr match is now in Galway which i expected with thurles not an option.

I am not disagreeing with you. I just thought that why Limerick opted for Cork tonight was because they will be playing there in the championship.

And ..... Ennis would be nearer for Limerick supporters than Galway

Lohan would be roaring at the Clare county board not to allow such a happening. Why accommodate the opposition in any way possible? Margins have been really tight in most recent Limk/Clare games, and having Limerick, especially any potential new starter, get a feel for the sod in Ennis before they got there in the championship, would certainly be to Limerick's advantage and to Clare's disadvantage.

Now, do you understand why Lohan s relevant to the situation?

Plenty for kiely to work on after tonight.the 3 goals tipp scored all came from very silly mistakes..great to see players getting time in the legs, another chance next week to get a few more involved, and maybe more time for gillane and Peter c.I was very impressed with fergal o Connor and o dalaigh none of them looked out of place..thought Murphy did well in first half..one goal chance and it was a pity gillane didn't hit ball into the ground, make it difficult for keeper..best wishes to seamus Kennedy, didn't look great but hopefully not as serious as it looked...

Good win for Limerick hurlers. Tipperary just not able for Limerick's overall skill and ability. The Limerick bench added 3 points when introduced last night. A good thing to have a strong bench.

Very good workout for the team. They were extremely rusty at times and the unforced errors were everywhere. Cahill had Tipp really wound up for this as you'd expect he would. As I said he only knows one gear.

Performance wise again nickys distribution was impeccable. I counted at least 3 direct assists the most impressive was to Flanagan late on who in fairness looked so hungry in his small cameo. The competition o dalaigh and English are bringing is driving everyone on. O connor again played v well. Strong on the ground and very composed on the ball. Dan solid as always. Mike casey won a lot of ball but again got caught out under a long delivery for Fordes goal. He likes to play from the front foot but as last defender that sometimes is risky.

Byrnes was very rusty at times but had a powerful second half. I thought coughlin was very good throughout. Took his scores and won a lot of ball. Cathal o neill is the big talking point for me. He was everywhere. Did an amount of work and burst through the lines so well. However his end product was very disappointing. Its a steep learning curve playing 6 and his natural attacking style got him into trouble a few times. He gave away at least 5 possessions direct to Tipp men but in a way he still dominated his area. Lots to work on. Is he being a little shortchanged playing 6 ? He's a starter for me this year but surely not 6?

William o donoghue is the best midfielder in the game. He is colossal. No more to say. Murphy played well too. Hego looks ravenous out there. Great to see. Lynch at times was unmarkable. Tipp tried everything to unsettle him. He's some problem to have. I thought it was possibly boylans best game in green. He may not have scored much but I thought he was very good. He is repaying some of the faith kiely has put in him.

Inside Gillane and casey needed that match. Both worked so hard and will sharpen up very quickly. O Dalaigh is giving kiely a huge headache. He has searing pace and can score from anywhere but want impressed me was his willingness for the hard graft. The dirty ball on the floor. He is improving his awareness too and not always shooting on sight which comes from confidence shown from the sideline.

I left PUC very happy. They seem to be in a very good place for March. Loads to work on but the hunger is definitely there.

Luimneach abú
