Congrats doon on making their well awaited turn to the top table of senior hurling today..they showed superb composure after conceding the 2 goals..thought the backs got to grips with na piarsaigh after 20 mins and for me were thoroughly deserving winners..Adam english was the main man on scores but for me daragh Donovan thundered into the game and showed fantastic leadership..na piarsaigh will be disappointed with only scoring 2-8 and missed some very scorable frees.it's a pity doon havnt an extra week before ballygunner because winning their first will take a lot out of them..great to see a change of champions and it can only bring limerick hurling on further..

Doon earned that! Got every score the hard way. Like our own final last night it was not pretty but great to watch.

Well done, Doon! It's been coming for a long time. Great game! Good to see Peter Casey back in action! The bonfires will blaze abundantly around East Limerick and along the Tipperary border tonight!

Best of luck to Doon today. Huge ask with such a short turn around but bo deneying they have the talent to do it.

Looking forward to it. If they can bring the same intensity as they did against Na Piarsiagh they have great chance as they have the players to make it count on scoreboard.

Huge ask after such a tough game last week and they must surely have celebrated well.

Very enjoyable game, Ballygunner v Doon
Ballygunner showed their class to win it in the second half. Their play was sublime at times. Hardly a missed pass, always finding a player in space. O'Keefes puck outs also a big factor
But Doon rattled them and had maybe 3 decent goal chances while Ballygunner had none. If they had only taken one of them it could have been different result
Adam English faded a little in the second half but still did well. DOD Chris Thomas and Richie English were outstanding and at times Pat Ryan
Doon looked like a team for the future

Agree, Ballygunnar are a class outfit and a great team to watch, I hope they go all the way this year. Their crisp stick passing game would remind you of Limerick, also the keeper is one of the main focal points of the team, similar to Limerick.

Ballygunnar looked the better hurling outfit in the second half where they went up a gear and Doon tired a little however they were in it all the way to the end and they created the goals chances, they just really needed to take one of the three clear chances.

Would add Barry Murphy to your list already mentioned, thought he had a great game as did all the Doon lads, they did the county proud and just lost out to what might prove to be the strongest team in the county. The one week turnaround must also have surely effected them in the last 15-20 mins

Is there any word on Richie English's injury? Didn't look good yesterday

Hard to believe that some one seems to have said limerick Gaa have made the decision not to stream matches again in 2025..they said it's down to attendance figures being up..I've seen matches from id safely say from almost every other county in the country but nothing from ours..juinor,intermediate and senior from all counties both hurling and football..only for local journalists and club updates no coverage..this to me is a huge own goal and I'd hope that when club championship comes round again that maybe they will have changed their mind..I saw pat Ryan even mentioned it on a sporting limerick interview..what do others think??a lot of elderly people who just can't go to matches anymore are missing out..

a few thoughts
Live overseas and if I had access would watch a game every weekend. Maybe 2
Last year coverage was poor - commentators in fairness were decent, but it was a single camera, with limited sightlines
None of the games were in Gaelic Grounds so that was a factor, although it was the same this year
So there is an argument that if you are going to do it you should do it properly
That said, I enjoyed it some decent games and great to see squad member who dont feature for the county or up and coming talent

Maybe attendances are up but how much additional gate are you talking about? Is that really such a big deal?
How does additional gate compare to TV subs PLUS goodwill, promotion, access for those unable to travel or to stand in a windy grass bank?
Sounds to me like they just couldnt be bothered doing it and are using attendances as an excuse
Just like the GAA did back in the 70s, 80s and 90s when live TV coverage of intercounty emerged.
I would go to games in the 70s and 80s where an attendance of 15k would be considered decent and the argument against TV would be attendance
Now most games are shown live and the stadia are full - 30/40k is nothing for a round robin game

I've heard there are two lads who would fit right into the senior set up.
Kiely would love their mentality and the way they go about things.

Did you travel down for many club games this year?

Huge blow and no obvious replacement
Didn't see Patrickswell this year but Jason Gillane seems to have a decent puckout
But I wonder if Kiely might be tempted to have a chat with Shane Dowling?
He has two years as goalie with Na Piarsaigh, fine striker of the ball so puck outs not an issue . Not as good a shot stopper as Quaid but puck outs probably more important
He might be tempted although not sure if his body would be up for it and if he is up for the commitment with a young family

Nicky is a huge loss but would be in with a chance of being back for the latter stages of the championship. Twisting and turning is the biggest problem getting back from an ACL tear which is alot less of keeper than an outfield player. Still JK will prob need to plan without him and if he is back it's a bonus. Jason Gillane will be fore runner with David McCarthy next I'd imagine. Can't see Dowling being tempted back.

Gillane and McCarthy better keepers anyway?
