"kk people will tell you their underage has being completely neglected" Kilkenny 4-21 Wexford 2-14. Imagine how good Kilkenny would be if they didn't completely neglect their underage teams. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2693 - 30/03/2024 17:12:17 2534644 Link 0 |
Didn't see the game Viking but looking at the stats and one thing sticks out, frees conceded by KK 19 and 3 yellows, 8 and none to us. Looks like we got bullied?

Kk won their last minor in 2014 and lets be honest they won a handy u20 2 years ago winning 3 matches by 1 point and before that it was 2008 when they won u21 so yes kk have completely neglected underage and its no wonder they arent winning seniors. I was talking to kk people at the match and mick fennelly is doing huge work with the underage. The u19 thing yesterday wexford were missing lads involved with minor football. Today was a bad day but the first day out. The wexford senior panel were behind me in the stand. Slowandshortsighted (UK) - Posts: 41 - 30/03/2024 18:32:40 2534661 Link 0 |
A better way to put it was we were all over the place on the pitch. Whelan, Dylan Purcell, Byrne, Rowley, Farrell, Luke Murphy, Roche, Rourke, Cian O Tuama, Kehoe, Paidi Doyle, Molloy and Moran all look like lads with some or good potential. There are others on the squad too. These lads range in age from 17 to 20, no knowing how they will develop. Some lads don't get better attitudes til they are a little older also, so it's a little hard on them to say they won't make it at this stage. Definitely there are a couple who need to work harder on, and probably off, the pitch, all of them need a good bit of S and C work to get up to Senior level also. Think it's a bit negative to say there are only 5 or 6 lads there with the potential, and that some of that 5 or 6 more than likely won't make it on account of attitude. People grow up, most of these lads are still at school!

Bullied wouldn't be the right word. They were bigger ok in most lines. Not sure our forwards committed any more than 1 or 2 fouls, and that's a worry when you think how many short puckouts Kilkenny had. The Kilkenny forwards worked much harder to force turnovers. I suppose in fairness to them, and to spin an old cliche, they wanted it far more than we seemed to, on and off the pitch.

just sitting here looking at squads for today's games, surely management have gone to both minor and adult club games in wexford together with schools/college games and have a good understanding of tslent in wexford and players available before they took their jobs, how many of these boys that can't even make their school,/ college teams is shocking , wexfordminor92 (Wexford) - Posts: 75 - 30/03/2024 18:57:46 2534674 Link 0 |

Sound post and I think you're right. Some Wexford people are far too humble about our contribution to Gaelic games and the country!

Absolute Viking, at the end of the day these are chaps and it can be tough for them seeing the negativity around todays game. What lacked most today was leadership from both the line and the pitch. Wexford needed someone to step up today and lead by example ie the captains job. All of the squad have potential other wise they wouldn't be wearing the jersey but management also have a lot to answer for. Nothing changed tactically Wexford couldn't even push up on the Kilkenny short puck out and there seemed to be little to no guidance given to them. Yes by the end of the game the attitudes of some players were brutal but management need to step up here as well as the players taking responsibility. From looking at the game today Darragh Kehoe had the best attitude on the field and put his heart into them game but there will be little said about that. They need to pull together as a squad and better themselves for the game in a fortnight.

Today was not acceptable and everyone knows this. The results between these two teams is always close one way or another. Kk were intent on goals today and could of had a few more. Murphy who goes to good councel caused awful bother. The size difference between the 2 teams was huge. Are kk really doing that much more s&c than wexford?beaten all over the pitch but tactically very dissapointing. The dogs on the street knew kk have a very slow half back line which wexford exploited twice last year and 2 of them chaps started again and there was nothing done to exploit it only make heros out of them. Laois have a good u20 team so the next game is no gimme. Lots of work to do and the injured guys cant come back quick enough. Wasn't at the game but watched it live on clubber, very disappointing today no other way of dressing it up, the time and space Kilkenny were afforded all over the field was unforgivable, as pointed out I couldn't understand particularly in the 1st half how deep we were dropping back yet our full back line was continually getting exposed, that's a good Kilkenny team but things were made far to easy for them today. Taught both Jake Molloy and Darragh Farrell did well when introduced aswel as Rowley and Cillian Byrne, there's good players in that panel so questions at the moment have to be in the direction of management. Today wouldn't fill you with confidence that we will regroup but hopefully they'll prove me wrong, I'd be absolutely delighted if they did. 1 positive today I forgot to mention is we really troubled Kilkenny at times when we ran at them. TerribleFootwork (Wexford) - Posts: 1760 - 31/03/2024 00:48:52 2534738 Link 0 |
Yes we did run at them late on but at that stage the game was well over and Kilkenny probably had taken their foot off the gas as they were so far ahead.
