Getting back to a calendar for a split season:

Playing Provincials and NL in parallel probably gives a better season. Assuming the existing 27 weeks allocation.

1 NFL1
2 NFL2
3 Prov 1
4 Break
5 NFL3
6 NFL4
7 Prov 2
8 Break
9 NFL5
10 Prov SF
11 Break
12 NFL6
13 Prov Final
14 Break
15 NFL7
16 NFL Final
17 Break
18 AI 1
19 AI2
20 Break
21 AI 3
22 AIPQF
23 AI QF
24 break
25 AI SF
26 break
27 AI Final

With 2 league games to go, teams would have clarity on AI qualification.

NL finalists get a break before AI kicks offs.

Some Teams do have to play 3 weeks in a row but that'd mainly be early in the season. You could switch the AI Quarterfinals to week 24 maybe, depending on a hurling schedule.

I agree with playing Provincials and NFL in the same timeframe.
It would eradicate the long gaps some teams had in 2023 e g Ros 5 weeks, Mayo 6 or 7 weeks.

Doesn't seem to be on anyone's agenda at Official level.
Maybe we could push it if things are being reviewed after the 24 Championship?

Why are counties against playing 4 rounds of the Allianz Football League on consecutive weekends? It is one way of having a rest weekend after the league finals, within the current structure.
NFL Round 1
NFL Round 2
NFL Round 3
NFL Round 4
Break
NFL Round 5
NFL Round 6
NFL Round 7
NFL Finals
Break
Start of Provincial Championships.

Playing league and provincials in parallel solves the issue of teams waiting around for fixtures though.

The big issue is that it is hard to start the Tailteann before the Sam Maguire.

League and provincial championships in parallel does solve the problem of teams waiting. I can't see it gaining traction though. The GAA like going from the league chapter to provincial championship chapter, and then onto the All-Ireland chapter.
The main conundrum within current fixtures is trying to create a rest weekend after league finals. Counties vote in favour of Provincial Championships starting after 3 rounds of league action. The same counties insist that league games cannot be played on 4 consecutive weekends!
