I agree with playing Provincials and NFL in the same timeframe. It would eradicate the long gaps some teams had in 2023 e g Ros 5 weeks, Mayo 6 or 7 weeks. Doesn't seem to be on anyone's agenda at Official level. Maybe we could push it if things are being reviewed after the 24 Championship? Why are counties against playing 4 rounds of the Allianz Football League on consecutive weekends? It is one way of having a rest weekend after the league finals, within the current structure. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8282 - 06/01/2024 23:01:36 2518725 Link 0 |
Playing league and provincials in parallel solves the issue of teams waiting around for fixtures though. The big issue is that it is hard to start the Tailteann before the Sam Maguire. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4329 - 07/01/2024 10:59:23 2518771 Link 0 |
League and provincial championships in parallel does solve the problem of teams waiting. I can't see it gaining traction though. The GAA like going from the league chapter to provincial championship chapter, and then onto the All-Ireland chapter. The main conundrum within current fixtures is trying to create a rest weekend after league finals. Counties vote in favour of Provincial Championships starting after 3 rounds of league action. The same counties insist that league games cannot be played on 4 consecutive weekends! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8282 - 07/01/2024 12:17:40 2518788 Link 0 |
