What clubs are looking ? Surely we can't be far off the leagues starting

The big clubs will always find a coach because they have the money to pay them. It's the smaller clubs that are struggling to find people. It's a split season in name only, clubs training since before the new year for a championship in July at the earliest and leagues in March that nobody cares about. Madness really and dosent happen in any other sport.

I don't know of any players doing collective training on the field since before new year. Most I know of are starting back this week and next. In our county and others.

Heard of numerous clubs doing gym programmes before Christmas, collective or not it's still training. Plenty of time to start back in the coming weeks.

It seems like madness, but there's a central problem to streamlining the season- the overlap between the clubs and counties. It means any competition played while the county team is active is rendered "mickey-mouse".
The only alternative would be to do like rugby do, which is play a big league, and play away with whoever is available. For instance, in Wexford, instead of two groups of six we'd have one group of 12. 11 matches, home and away, top two go straight through to the semi-finals, teams 3-6 play quarters, or have the top eight play quarters. That would only need gthe same allocation of weeks as the current league and championship combines, maybe the odd weekend off.
But this would necessitate all teams playing much of the league campaign without their county players. And for teams like the Shels they would be missing county hurlers and footballers from their club squads. Add in the county U-20's not being available until maybe June, and now try to sell that to the clubs.

That's called staying fit and looking after yourself, I haven't played competitive sport in the last 15 years and still either go for a run or go to the gym 5 or 6 times most weeks.

Most players who play at a decent level do this your right. They don't need to be answering into managers at that time of year.

Underage games planned for March also. An important step in the right direction.

Ross District Junior B hurling championship is starting 16th June also. Hopefully it doesn't cause any problems.

I know this topic has been discussed to death on various groups but just something I saw on the Wexford Camogie lineouts for past few months. Can anyone tell me why the camogie players playing fr the joint Kilaernin Ballyfad Tara Rocks amag are called Tara Rocks Ballynestragh Gaels. I thought it was an error but seems to be on every camogie line up. Is it not just Ballynestragh Gaels, the name of both clubs joined together? Why have Tara Rocks in front? Just thought it was very strange. Maybe there is an explanation

That seems strange all right. Hadn't noticed it myself.

For what it's worth, Wexford Camogie recently issued all their draft fixtures for the months ahead. They just refer to Tara Rocks at adult level, but in all underage up to U18, it's Tara Rocks Ballynestragh Gaels.

I know the Gaels thing only applies at underage, but still, why put Tara Rocks in front of it when Tara Rocks are part of the Ballynestragh Gaels combination anyway?

Time to get this thread back up and running after today's disaster.
