Hearty played every minute of those 19. Only time he was a sub was when he came out of retirement aged 42 to be the sub keeper..they lost that final.

Not great for any team when big named players are taking the place of better, fitter and more hungry players because of who you are. Said it before and has come true.

No substance to this. What a bitter comment. If you'd actually watched Armagh club football over last 15-20 years, even in the last 5. He was always the first name on the Cross teamsheet. He was the backbone and quarterback of that team. Cross will struggle massively without him.

Not bitter at all, just pointing out the fact that in some clubs the older man with past glories gets the nod over young lads with fitness, skill and hunger hanging out of them. 40 years of age.

Sometimes Saynothing it is better to "SAY NOTHING". Your post is poor form to be honest, particuarly when it is linked to a well respected player. The best of luck to Aaron Kiernan on his retirement. He has been a great servant to his club and county for many years. Gary Sice is still playing fantastic football for Corofin at the moment. Are you suggesting that he does not deserve his place as well? Ageism comes to mind! Fair play to both Aaron, Gary and several others for there efforts in keeping playing at such a high level for so long. And how is that relevant to Aaron? Anyone around Crossmaglen and wider Armagh would say he was the fittest, most intelligent and skillful player on that team. Such disrespect to one of the best half backs in his generation. Best player by a mile on the Cross team on Saturday night. Irregardless of a players age, if they have the attributes to help the team, they should play.

This wasn't meant to be a dig at anyone, Aaron has won it all with Armagh and Cross but Cross must be going downhill badly if there are not better players coming through than a man of 39 years of age. Thats 20 years older than the 19 year old lads breaking into club football. Fair play to him if he's still got it but big named players always get the nod. It does happen.

If the 19yr old's were good enough and dedicated enough, they'd get their game. There are plenty of young lads on the Cross team, not Aaron's fault that the rest of them can't cut it.
