What has Andy Moran done to warrant a county job

Absolutly nothing. And it's showing on the pitch in all fairness. So what's your real point? I take you're happy with the appointment? Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1023 - 03/10/2023 10:44:01 2506758 Link 0 |
Nothing and Leitrim are finding out how dodgy an appointment he was. Super footballer,,,poor manager 3

A pretty bad appointment. Bray were very bad in his two years there.

If the Louth county board wanted Malachy O'Rourke, at the same time knowing that Ger Brennan was interested in it so what convinced the Louth Co Board to pursue and ratify Ger.

If Malachy wasn't interested, I'd assume.

It just goes to show that any lad with a profile in the GAA could potentially get a county job. God be with the days when you had to actually win something to be in the mix. I mean like Jason Sherlock was at the fore for Monaghan until they seen thankfully seen sense.

what are you on about, it must be tough with every single person sick of your dribble in every topic you comment on

Jeepers, I must be really making you mad. You have yet to properly or directly debate any of my very valid points. Instead you either change subject or turn to outright insults. That is why you are embarrassing yourself. But don't worry. I am well used to this strategy from the 'Mickey can do no wrong' gang. Don't worry. You don't need to reply. Yes Sherlock and Monaghan was one of the most bizarre things in a long time. Although Jack O Shea got the Mayo job soon after he'd retired from playing in the 90s on the back of nothing.

Surprising he will become Derry manager. That's like Jack O'Shea becoming Cork manager in our equivalent. Albeit I think Cork could do with a manager from outside the county DuhallowRed (Cork) - Posts: 301 - 04/10/2023 17:55:22 2506966 Link 0 |
I agree with your point in general but I think pat Gilroy had very little managerial experience before taking over the dubs (stand to be corrected on that tho). Also, what was Brian Codys managerial experience before taking over kilkenny in 98? Genuine question, Wikipedia has nothing on it and I haven't heard anything either over the years. I'm not sick of his "dribble", he's made more sense than you have on this topic imo, and you can't seem to get through a single post without making some sort of nasty remark.

Was Brolly not instrumental in getting Brian Mullins appointed to the Derry hot seat back in the day? Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9518 - 05/10/2023 10:58:48 2507022 Link 0 |
Brian Cody managed his own club (James Stephen's) at different points through the 80's and 90's. He was well retired & into his 40's before he took the county job. Don't know Pat Gilroy's full background (fairly sure he was coaching with his own club) but I can tell you he was well retired from the county & quite successful professionally by the time he took on the Dublin job. They certainly didn't walk into jobs like some lads are doing these days.

Possibly, but he no certainly had no issue with him as manager in any case. He actually wrote a very nice piece after Mullins' sad passing. It makes his outrage over Mickey Harte due to him being an outside manager all the more hypocritical. It's clearly a personal issue he has with Mickey. It'd be more honest if he just came out and said it. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2187 - 05/10/2023 12:04:19 2507032 Link 0 |
