That WON'T be happening....."
So unless you were from one off the big 8 or 9 counties you would never experience an All Ireland. Don't forget a lot of time and effort is put in by volunteers in clubs whose counties will never experience playing in an all Ireland. Annoying when a County reaches an All Ireland and people come out of the woodwork telling everyone they are genuine supporters and yet are not members of their own club.

Finals need to be moved to August with at least two weeks between the hurling and football final. Should be left a stand alone game, no need for minor or anything else taking away from the day

Other than Club Chair and Sec do any other club Volunteers in the Counties who never reach a Final get AI tickets?

Brilliant idea and I totally agree only an elitist would disagree.

I suppose we in Wexford unfortunately fall into the category of "never reach a final". 1996 is a long time ago now. Our last football final in 1918 is even longer!

Anyway, dual clubs here (i.e. most of them) get an allocation of five tickets each, for both hurling final and football final. Single code clubs get five tickets just for their code.

Up to each club how to actually distribute them, but in my own, the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and County Board Rep each have first option on one of them, and there's one "floater", depending on who asks.

For counties like kildare and cavan I think that would be a great idea.

There seems to be mixed views on this here so far, so just to throw in a few things for consideration:

1 - Would many people from those counties travel to Dublin for a practice match?
2 - Would many of the people going for the final itself be particularly bothered to go in early to see some or all of a practice match?

And finally.....club championships may already have begun in the counties invited to take part in the challenge match (depending on how those counties run things themselves). This is something else that would have to be considered when extending an invite.

1 at €90 a head...nobody other than usual few AI ticket recipients
2 Very few. How many people used to have been in the ground at end of Minor Finals , over an hour before start of Senior game?.

That's down to county boards surely? Most of eventers get tickets through companies that sponsor or own boxes which is fair enough although I know of companies who do ensure that genuine people get tickets. Was once in a corporate box and was half and half Dubs/Kerry and lads only there for a free dinner and pints.

Two of them were watching motor racing in the bar during the minor game! I kid you not....

I put the idea out there for discussion. How many people attend challenge games in general?
If anyone is going to be invited to Croke Park for a challenge game, counties who have not played in Croke Park for a while would be the obvious choice.

Maybe mass at 1.30pm on All-Ireland day?
Some people might not have got it due to having to travel to Dublin?

Club chair and secretary do not always automatically get All Ireland tickets. Poor form if they did.

If the All-Ireland football final was today, Gaelic Football and rugby would be sharing the spotlight.

A Railway Cup style match between 2 provinces would not be the worst curtain raiser. It could be a 20 minute half to save the club managers complaining.
There are hardly ever any matches on on All-Ireland final day anyway as players often want to go.

And the Kerry and Dublin Club Championships would have to be shoe horned into 4 or 5 weeks on October.

Not if county finals were in December and provincial/All-Ireland club championships completed in January to St. Patrick's Day.
