St Catherines were the team playing In the All Ireland Junior Final. They lost the Cork Junior Final to Erin's Own but Erin's Own were ineligible to play at Munster/All Ireland level as they were their club's 2nd team which is why St Catherine's went forward in Munster Castlelyons represented Cork in the intermediate championship. Not sure what the story was with them but am guessing you were referring to the junior championship? PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 1953 - 14/01/2024 11:52:31 2520098 Link 0 |
The cork teams who qualify for the munster championships are the premier winners of each grade Senior it's the Cork Premier Senior Champions (Sarsfields) intermediate it's the Cork Premier intermediate Champions (Castlelyons) Junior it's the Cork Premier Junior Champions (Erins Own 2nd team are ineligible so the runners-up, St Catherine's qualified) All the other champions of the remaining grades only gain promotion and their seasons end GaA247 (Cork) - Posts: 58 - 14/01/2024 16:37:04 2520156 Link 0 |
No was just making the point that Castlelyons weren't the 25th ranked club team in Cork.

A great idea surely ,but there's a lot problems ,which wud need to b sorted first ,bring back the connacht club u17 championship (it was u16 previously) with the galway "b" champions entering ,there's a A and EVEN a B equivalent in football!!!!!,then for u20 ,it was looked for a u20 connacht league for county (maybe nclude Longford) and maybe say a galway u19 team ,but of course the top people in football connacht say no ....but they l go to croke Park and say don't think we can do much more to help hurling ,when there doing there best to bury it ,and in my own county for the celtic challenge(u17) they could easily have 2 teams say a sligo black and a sligo white ,but it won't b funded so instead one squad of 30 and the other 30 are dropped ,and I'm sure roscommon and mayo could have 2 teams in that competition also ,but nstead they l have over 40 lads on a football panels and that's fine . ..these are the sort of problems that need to b sorted (I feel first ) before we get to a connacht senior championship
