Meath have had some great full backs in my time. Mick Lyons and Darren Fay were top full backs and Kevin Reilly was as good as any full back around too. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3524 - 20/05/2023 01:39:16 2479727 Link 1 |
No, it's Paddy McCormack "The Iron Man from Rhode" that you go far. Don't mind those Meath fledglings in comparison to the Great McCormack.

Obviously you were not at the match or did not watch it tv. Mark O Reilly switched with Fay during the 1st Half, midway I believe. Joyce scored 2-3 points off Fay before the switch. As an aside, I always thought it was a poor decision by Sean Boylan, but it was Fay's decision as recounted in the book of Meath Fullbacks, Four Royal Kings.

Mick Mackey, at 33 years of age and playing on a poor team, scored 2.5 from play off the great Joe Keohane of Kerry and Mackey would not even admit he was ever a footballer. On any given day things can go against even great players. And yes Padraig Joyce was an exceptional Footballer
