Why Do Some TV Channells In All Of Ireland Show More Or Why Do Some Show Less Gaa Games Than Others

The question I axed was why some Television Stations ( That are seen in all of Ireland ) dont show more Gaa games.
Is it
No 1 because Gaa is predominately played by the working class
No2 Rugby players and supporters tend to be of a certain social standing
No3 As for parents of Children that play Soccer well all think that lettle Mary and Jonny will be Maranonas

They dont show them because of the rights deal
class has nothing to do with anything to do with this

Show more GAA games? There are 8 live GAA games being shown in Ireland this weekend.

Put it behind a pay wall and people stop watching.

This year RTE will have shown more LOI games and URC games than hurling or football. If it wasn't for TG4 there'd be little on.

It doesn't happen overnight but slowly GAA games are becoming a lot less relevant."
Don't confuse games on TV with the heartbeat of a community. If there never was another Gaelic game shown on TV, it'd make no difference at all to the GAA where I live - not in the slightest.

Ough Killing Fields from County Limerick ( what ahandle) you got
Yes I under stand that the Gaa would have contracts for important games .
But I understand that Counties like yourselves in Football could be described as non important Counties and as such your football could be watched ough"
Tom, Killing fields is a Munster/Irish rugby phrase used to describe the sport of rugby played in Limerick. Plenty of violence on the pitch, is the meaning of it.

As a senior poster also you never speak but you say something sensible.
Killing fields ( ough what ahandle that poster posts under from Limerick) is associacted with aparticular part of Ireland all right.
But what I ( who come from the home of good Gaa ie Cavan) was saying is that some stations show far more other field sports other than Gaa.
Gaa is the life blood of the local community in all Parishes in Ireland and to move to another Club is a no no.

What stations show more other sports than the GAA and you do know stations can only show what they are contractually obilged to show

Dillingfields Co Limerick I have to use your Killing Fields handle that you post some things under..

Why is it the TV 3 Virgin media 1 or Virgin Media 2 or indeed Virgin media 3 dont show much Gaa.
Is it because the Gaa is aworking class persons game ??
I dont know but sure Tommy knows all the Lads and its easier to get pannelists to come on from the Oval ball brigade .

Virgin media doesnt show games because theyre not entitled to show any because they didnt win any rights the last time the rights went up for tender.
