                    The greatest all rounder that I've ever seen is Jack o Shea. Breffni1969 (Cavan) - Posts: 510 - 09/05/2023 06:14:45 2476918Link 1 |

| For me the likes of Mattie Ford or Declan Browne, they were just from wrong County. jacktheboy (Donegal) - Posts: 513 - 09/05/2023 09:36:32 2476925Link 0 |
| Canavan for me still the greatest forward I've ever seen, though in 10 years time it may well be David Clifford. Tomás Ó Sé or James McCarthy as the greatest defenders in my time watching, maybe Lee Keegan as well. Anthony Tohill the greatest midfielder probably. Very hard to pick who the best is overall though. Probably just about go for Canavan. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13842 - 09/05/2023 09:51:05 2476927Link 0 |

| Cluxton the best keeper, Darren Fay the best inside back, Seamus Moynihan best half back, Jacko best midfielder, Michael Donnellan most exciting half forward, Clifford best inside forward. dufferman (Down) - Posts: 158 - 09/05/2023 10:14:39 2476934Link 0 |
| Darren Fay was good alright, until he met Padraic Joyce! Padraic took him to the cleaners in the 2001 AI final with a 10 point tally, 9 of them in an unbelievable second half performance. (He fluffed an open goal chance too!) Fay had never encountered anything like it. togoutlads (Galway) - Posts: 1101 - 09/05/2023 11:07:55 2476965Link 1 |
| Mickey Linden or Declan Browne best I seen. Equally as good off either foot and neither got near enough credit. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 09/05/2023 11:20:52 2476971Link 0 |
| Agree with this, canavan has always been my favourite to watch anyway but clifford is right up there with him already! achara (Monaghan) - Posts: 584 - 09/05/2023 11:48:45 2476983Link 0 |
| Jacko could catch one under his own crossbar and finish the move the other end. He had some engine. Clifford is a fine forward who can score with both feet. Overall Jacko added more to a team. So versatile he could play anywhere. That's why I'd pick him as the greatest that I saw. Breffni1969 (Cavan) - Posts: 510 - 09/05/2023 12:03:17 2476988Link 0 |

Forwards usually get the kudos but likes of Moynihan and Tim Kenneally of Kerry be worth a shout. From Dublin perspective, backs wise, McCarthy has been outstanding. rarely if ever has a poor game. But for my money the most consistent and reliable player of Dublin's glory years has been Mick Fitzsimons at corner back. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3778 - 09/05/2023 12:20:15 2476995Link 0 |

These are the best 15 players I have seen in my life time. I have moved a couple of them around from their best positions. Very difficult to pick any one player as it is very subjective. My own county man Dermott Early would have to be considered to be one of the best ever. Certainly the best player to never win an All Ireland senior medal. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 812 - 09/05/2023 12:43:30 2477007Link 0 |

| Mick Fitz wasn't a regular starter for Dublin from 2013 up until the All-Ireland replay in 2016 where he won MOTM. He had been regularly playing up until Gavin took over but a loss of form meant he was dropped and it took a long time for him to get his place back. An excellent defender on his day to be fair.
