It couldn't have been June, Harte stepped down in July. It looked like the Derry board wanted Gallagher, but the negative reaction around that put them off and they are looking for alternatives. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2904 - 05/10/2024 12:10:17 2573131Link 0

What would the Derry fans think of Mickey Graham getting it? I'm hearing it's the reason he's walked from Leitrim before a ball was thrown in. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5306 - 10/10/2024 03:40:37 2573989Link 0
Mark Doran is definitely getting the job but they are waiting until the end of the club championship before announcing. The backroom team seems to be far less certain according to people I have chatted to, but Paddy Bradley's name keeps popping up. Karl Lacey sounded out as well to join the backroom team as well. Seems he is interested. If this was to be the coaching team then they will have a massive job on their hands. Hopefully in the next week or two we will know for certain. Don't take what I am saying as gospel lol Jazzyjeff (Derry) - Posts: 212 - 10/10/2024 11:22:27 2574025Link 0
Circumstances out of his control was reason given. It seemed like a family matter. It would be a poor look if he went to Derry. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2904 - 10/10/2024 11:41:16 2574027Link 0

I'd loose all respect for him if he did go to Derry.... it would be a fairly low blow. Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1569 - 10/10/2024 12:17:53 2574032Link 1

| Lesser conditioning? How did you come to that conclusion? I thought SN were very poor but conditioning was the least of their problems. Glen dominated the 2nd half and should have had 3 goals. SN were content to defend and not attack, they didn't score for 35mins. Very poor. Glen had key men out too, they'll be hard to stop in Ulster. | Like you said they didn't score for 35 mins. They wernt fit to win ball around the middle or get up the field to add to their tally in the 2nd half. I don't think defending was a choice, it was all they were fit to do. Bad for a side at that level. With the talent they have they should be doing a lot better. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1372 - 17/10/2024 11:49:32 2575446Link 0 |
| I agree given the talent they have they should be doing better but to suggest it was down to fitness is just lazy analysis. You're suggesting Brendan Rogers was not fit enough? One of the fittest players in Ireland. I would see the problems as being more tactical. Their kickouts were beyond poor and the big goalie made terrible decisions. They dropped to defence far too quickly and rarely pressed Glen. In attack they were sideways and rarely kicked the ball - very easy to defend against. Glen just shut down McGuigan and they seemed to fold. Very poor. Credit to Glen though, the better side all round without doing anything spectacular. | Yes Rogers is incredibly fit. He does not constitute a full team though. Neither does McGuigan, McKeigue or any other county player. You'd have to wonder what the backroom team were doing with them when that trio were away with Derry. Not at the races. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1372 - 20/10/2024 19:43:43 2576039Link 0 |
Lol. Sure why even bother field a team. An incredibly naive and seemingly bitter statement. Orchardgael22 (Armagh) - Posts: 20 - 20/10/2024 19:58:58 2576040Link 0
What's going on in Derry lads? No manager appointed yet and still talk of Rory Gallagher being appointed as a coach. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a manager within the county of the caliber required. Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1569 - 08/11/2024 09:27:35 2578894Link 0

It's starting to look like that... someone looks to be pushing hard at county board level to have Gallagher involved and that's perhaps why no one wants to touch it. Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1569 - 08/11/2024 13:21:38 2578933Link 1
