Wod back to midfield, Cian at centre forward. I would say Reidy would lose out but will be first sub coming in for the forwards\midfield

David Reidy has done very well in the last 2 games but I think Peter Casey won alot of frees and chipped in with 2 points so is most likely to start. JK's Munster Final team selection shows that no position is set in stone. Cathal O' Neill looked very sharp when introduced also. Graeme Mul also looked busy so plenty of options for JK. You are most likely looking at the tried and trusted 6 forwards of Hego, Lynch, Morrissey, Gillane, Flanagan, Casey.

Few questions for Limerick Supporters:

1. Might get negative feedback on this but what are Limerick supporters honest take on Nickie Quaid and his contact lense situation?
I know he's not technically breaking rules but its not really in the spirit of the game. I understand it but personally don't like it. What are home supporters thoughts?

2. What is the hype like on the ground? Will it effect the players build up to the game?

3. What do ye perceive the teams biggest weakness to be/ is there anything you would be really worried about on Sunday week? My own suggestion would be what will happen if Butler and Lawlor get the better of Gillane and Flanagan. Its a big if and i suppose not really a weakness but just wondering what the home thoughts would be.

1)There's footage available on twitter which shows Nicky getting a slap in the stomach as he attempts to clear the ball. He handpasses it away and doubles over immediately afterwards. He was obviously in pain.
That lead to the delay.. Nothing to do with contact lenses..
James Skehill, the former Galway keeper on OTB who would have an obvious bias towards Galway, maintained it was purely media driven and has no impact on the final score.. That's good enough for me anyway.

2) no hype as far as I can see that would be unsettling for the team. To be honest, I think going for 3 in a row last year had more scrutiny. We're in the remarkable position of being used to this. I know some of the players and they're very relaxed.

3)if our half forwards fail to click. They were awesome last year and caused Kilkenny huge trouble.

As skillet explained it was a stomach issue. In the 7 minutes after that stoppage which was made when the ref asked the doctor to come onto the pitch by his umpire limerick outscored Galway 2 points to one and Galway had 2 goal scoring opportunities and whelan and concannon had wides . Galway continued woth their overall comfort in the match so the stoppage had no bearing whatsoever on the final score. Shefflin then on 32 mins drew a man out of the Galway inside line leaving 1 up top and therefore surrendered the initiative to limerick which they never relinquished.

The players will not be affected at all.

Gillane and Flanagan were well held last year and will be very keen on overturning that. Gillsne was carrying a knee injury into the final. Peter casey and cian lynch will be starting Sunday week too which should add a lot more to help Gillane and Flanagan find more space.

As much as I would love to see Hannon back for the final I cant see it happening, to rule him out so quick after the Munster Final for the semi shows there must have been a fair bit of damage to the knee.

Heard skehill saying it to.if memory correct Galway had 2 attacks directly after the incident..
The hype doesn't seem to be around, most people trying to source tickets..seems to be the bigger worry..also I know a few of the players and they are just getting on with things as normal.
We are still waiting on hego to have a huge game this year, hopefully it happens in final..if kk cut out ball to inside line I'd hope the hf line will step up for final..if Declan is available it'll be interesting to see who loses out on selection.

Good Qs! Not from Limerick but support them strongly, so technically I qualify to answer these questions.

1. Wouldn't pay a blind bit of notice to it! Pun intended.
2. N/A.
3. Gillane n Flanagan were held in last years final (and in more ways than one) to a certain extent. If KK perform a similar act this year, KK should be happy. It's not Limerick's weaknesses that I see as being the issue. It's more the cats are just better than they were last year. It's 50-50. One small incident could sway it either way. But as Gaeldom works wide realizes, Limerick won't give up that title even if they're fighting on the flat of their backs. Expect blood n murder.

1. The media are clutching at straws with the Nicky Quaid incident. If there was only a point or two in it at the end it might have had an impact. Limk were still going to come strong in the 3rd quarter.

2. No hype much. This team has already broken every record from a Limerick point of view so I don't think this even enters their mind set.

3. KK tenacity around the middle third if WOD has to stay CB might a concern. Galway did not turn the game into a dog fight so him being missing from mid field did not have a big impact last sat.

Watching the game live I said to the person beside me that Dan was my motm, he was rock solid and secure especially when we had no shape or control for the first 25 mins but was delighted to see DOD get motm, he has had better games and often not got a mention. It took WOD a while to adjust and to realise you almost need to be looking as much behind you as in front of you when you are playing CB."
yes man of the match agree dan was match by a country mile. what full forward has scored on him all year? just asking

Cian Lynch was excellent in the second half too, seemed to be in the thick of it. Great to see him coming back and that he was still going strong at the end. That 70 mins will really bring him on and hopefully he will be even better the next day.

I think Cian will have a huge bearing on this match. He played really well in the second half getting to the pace and for me an awful lot went through him when we started to click. He creates so much space for others by sucking in defenders and his timing of the pass is off the charts. Its no confidence for me that limerick won by more than 3 points for the 1st time in 13 championship matches on the same day that Cian played his first full match in that same time frame.

I think they'll give hannon every chance to take his place but if it's not to be we'll see the same 15 start and hold o neill back. Reidy might go to midfield with lynch at 11. O neill was superb off the bench the last day. His energy was huge and workrate and defending also massive. Parts of his game he has really improved.

The interesting one for me is who might push to see game time. Likes of Barry Murphy Adam English etc could have an unexpected impact next Sunday.

Build up has started nicely and can't wait. Always a great week leading into it.

Never made that connection..
I was very impressed with Cian in the second half, but maybe had forgotten just how important he is.. He offers something no other Limerick player does. Fantastic to see him back.

Completely agree he has been the difference between winning by one or having the 3-4 + point cushion in closing stages.
It will give KK something extra to think about. Do they focus on stopping Cian and give him special attention as everything will go through him if he is anyway open or do they just play their own game.
If Cian is given special attention, Morrisey or Hegarty should be able to make hay, you would hope.

Limerick are one of the few teams that just play their own terms game week in week out season in and season out, the rarely, if ever adjust defensively to mark a player but they do make vital adjustments as the game is being played like moving the standing positions of the half back and half forward lines. They adjust to be better offensively rather the defensively. If Clare had stuck to their guns and played their game i think we would be facing them in the AI final, at least if you lose then at least you have the comfort of knowing you lost on your terms without the "what ifs".

The conventional wisdom is that KK are really going to put it up to us. In fact, an awful lot of people believe that KK motivated by their desire to stop Limerick from winning 4 in a row and to see TJ Reid crowned as one of the greatest players ever, will win. This is excellent news for Limerick.

My view is that a lot of the analysis is focused on the color of the jerseys and is ignoring the quality of the respective players on both sides. I had doubts before the Galway match because of uncertainty as to who would play at 6, where was Cian Lynch and our generally below expectation performances in the Munster campaign (honorable exception to our goalie, full back line, Tom Morrissey and the electric Aaron Gillane). All those doubts and concerns were answered in that second half.

I have absolute belief that this Limerick team is a vastly superior force to Kilkenny. I think that this KK team is a pale shadow of previous KK teams. They lost to Wexford. They flooked a win in the Leinster final and they got every break going against Clare. I rate about 7 of their players as good enough to compete for a place on the starting Limerick XV. That's Murphy, Lawlor, Butler, Blanchfield, TJ Reid, Mullen and Cody. Their centre back would not start for any of the Munster counties. They have a load of players that are hard working types that are full of commitment but they are not elite hurlers.

I don't think that Limerick will be phased by the color of the jersey of their opponents on All Ireland final day. If Limerick play well and I expect them to - they will win. I think they could win by a comfortable margin because - they are the better team and it's that simple.

A lot of valid points in your post but as a Limerick supporter id be very guarded playing in any final especially against Kilkenny, we were expected to beat them in 2019 semi final but that didnt happen.
We beat Kilkenny by two points in last years all ireland final with a full squad, they were consistent enough to get to this years league final and are now in the All Ireland final so they are in the top two teams on merit and in a final anything can happen !

agreed 100% i dont get this talk ( and a lot of it from ex kilkenny players) that kilkenny are better this year than last year . what is this been based on or am i missing something here . leaving the league aside i havnt seen a performance yet from kilkenny his year to say ok these are serious all ireland contenders and will take stopping. they got the bounce of the ball going for them in the leinster final a game they should have lost . they hung on against clare who to me were average compared to their munster performances and only hit 5 wides in the whole game....if limerick play 80-90 % of what they are capable of i see this as a 5 or 6 point win for limerick.

The number of ex KK players in the media is very high. As a result, the conversation is skewed to their view which is based off of their own experiences of success. I see no evidence that KK have improved one iota from last year. I don't think that they are even the second best team in the country. I'm grateful that they beat Clare because I think that the Banner are a far bigger threat for us to overcome.
