Mad how certain supporters pop up or disappear depending on a team's fortunes, a Munster semi between the 2 in 2017 drew 19k, our support was pitiful this year after bringing 35k to 2019 Leinster final and 40k to AI semi vs Tipp.

A double header with the Leinster final was a real opportunity. There wont be 25k at the Leinster Final.

I've spoken to a few people from football backgrounds who have come down to munster championship games this year for the first time and flat out trying to get tickets as well. Bringing to croke park in not the maddest idea. You'd probably comfortably get 65000 at it tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 02/06/2023 14:35:04 2483596 Link 0 |
Munster final should only ever be on in Munster IMO. The atmosphere at the GG's next week at 44,000 will be much better and intense then 60,000 at Croke Park. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2679 - 02/06/2023 14:41:21 2483601 Link 0 |
I thought the reason given for not Clare playing in Cork was the long distance to the venue. Croke park from Ennis is easier to get to?

The clare management knew they wouldn't get the same support in cork and Limerick would out number them down there . Limerick love cork. Modern facility. Beautiful field etc. Clare to my knowledge haven't won in the new PUC. Few reasons they were more than happy to play in the Gaelics. Limerick have also approved Clare a night to train there this week. It has the makings of a classic. Clare really need to win this. Limerick will badly want it. Need v Want. Clare might just have an edge there but I believe Limerick have recovered very well after the cork match and some lads who weren't 100% fitness wise are very close to it again. daveboy (Limerick) - Posts: 1197 - 05/06/2023 18:02:13 2484206 Link 1 |
After the incident in the U20 final on Sunday, I'm expecting that we could see a number of red cards handed out by referees next weekend. The whole head high challenge issue is attracting enormous media attention and I think refs are coming under greater pressure to hand out red cards. I noted the comments on Brian Gavin in the Examiner in which he expressed surprise that Gordon got the Munster final because he failed to hand out red cards earlier in the year so he's under pressure. I think he gave Hegarty 2 yellows against Waterford? Dealer (Limerick) - Posts: 837 - 06/06/2023 11:01:34 2484319 Link 0 |
I think your right but hoping the final isnt decided by a red card and theres no controversy. Really looking forward to this game - just a shame we arent in it!

Clare have 1 win from 4 in the new PUC as fair as I know, beat us in 18, lost to Tipp in 17, Cork in 18 and Waterford in 20(behind closed doors due to Covid), wouldn't count national league. Logistically GG is as convenient as Ennis to alot of Clare folk and their players are extremely familiar with it, as Jamesie O'Connor said last week for people from Cratloe, Clonlara, Sixmilebridge etc. heading into town means heading into Limerick not Ennis.

Just to add PUC is a fantastic stadium and playing surface but that's where the positives stop, in terms of traffic management its carnage.

I can't understand why they didn't build outside the city in a more accessible place

Should be a great game with the two best teams. I would not begrudge Clare but want Limerick to set the record in this century for All-Irelands. You are an inspiration to others how to get there and stay there. Still bemoaning the one that got away because the landscape of achievement would look a lot different. Ya I think it will be a great occasion. Clare hurling is on a fairly strong upward curve at the moment with u20s and minors doing great this year. Have to say the Munster championship has been great entertainment this year. Very little between teams. Hopefully Sunday's match isn't affected by simulation or dirty strokes Shocs07 (Limerick) - Posts: 374 - 08/06/2023 22:05:48 2485047 Link 2 |
Record is for all Irelands is 10. Don't think they is 6 more All Irelands in this team

Limerick have the record for the highest score in an All Ireland final with 3-32. I don't think that matters too much to Limerick folk. We are just enjoying these great days and hoping to win as much as possible. What other counties do is irrelevant really.

Stating the obvious but thats a serious team. You're obviously more in the know than me but I'd be surprised if he reverts back to that team personally and O'Neill doesnt start for either Casey or Lynch. Will be interesting to see what they do. If theres any change from that team it'll prob be just O'Neill to come in. Someone mentioned during the week how good the midfield has been the last two games. I think particularly the last game and a half they have been excellent. It's prob harsh to say they got a kick up the **** but I think WOD has certainly turned his form around and DOD was arguably best player on the pitch the last day. Clare have plenty of legs and size around the middle third so it'll be tough going in there. Davy Fitz and where he lines out is key for Clare to win. Personally I think he's up there with TK and JC with how important he is for Clare. Without him against Tipp they werent half the team. His role the last game or two has been interesting. Lot of exciting match ups. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 09/06/2023 10:21:43 2485083 Link 0 |
I'd be worried for Clare if Rory Hayes is left exposed with the way he hurls. He could get on the world of ball but we know what Flanagan done to him last year. The commentator even commented he wasnt sure why he was taken off - they you look and see Flanagan got 7-8 from play directly off him. I'd be bringing Flanagan back in particularly if McInereny has to go to 3. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 09/06/2023 10:24:01 2485084 Link 0 |
