Replying To Viking66:  "They got to the u16a Michael Foley Cup final this year also and only lost to Kilkenny by a goal. They should be our best hope of minor success in a long time if things go well for them and they get that little bit of luck along the way."
Even if not hopefully a few prospects can emerge, on the team this year even at losing a Leinster semi final I taught the half back line of Doran Daly O'Toole, Charlie Roark and Niall Furlong were very good and Liam Dunne's son Jack at midfield who is underage again next year.

Jack looked very good last year if a little light. He will no doubt fill out a bit he's only young yet. The grit they showed beating Dublin this year in shocking conditions was also very heartening and a credit to them and the management team.

I think the Jason Ryan appointment might turn out to be one of the best. Great man manager and good for out of the box thinking.

I've never seen it mentioned, but maybe they have one in their backroom team."
Yes. They do. He's very good.

We would want to be getting this sorted very promptly as most other counties have their under 20 mngt teams in place. Without sounding anyway prejudice, I do feel having 3 oulart men over all 3 hurling teams would be a bit odd and inbalanced. That's in no way a reflection of oulart as they are an iconic club doing great work underage .I wish every club done as much for wexford hurling as oulart. I wonder have the likes of Willie cleary, malachy travers, Paul carley expressed any intrest ? I wonder would jj Doyle be intrested doubling up...

On a side note, is there any confirmation of Jason Ryan's addition to the senior backroom team ?

Jason Ryan is confirmed as part of the senior back room team. Agree re the 20s and having 3 Oulart men over the 3 most senior teams in the county, it shouldn't happen. But I don't think many expressed an interest in it, I think different people even were phoned and asked, and no-one wanted it.

I would find that statement regarding a lack of intrest hard to believe considering we've been very competitive in this grade over the past few seasons and with Simon roche ,daragh kehoe ,eoin whelan, conor foley,Dylan Purcell, Sean Rowley,Jack redmond, luke Murphy, killian Byrne all underage again next year ,I would expect us to be strong again.

Conor Foley and Jack Redmond are overage next year but agree on your overall sentiment.

Replying To Doylerwex:  "That's a fair observation but would a psychologist have impact pepper's devision?

Time is subjective too. If the individual is calm rather than panicked, it feels like there's more time to think about what you're doing and perhaps identify the correct player. Not saying this is 100% or anything. Just a thought.

Regardless, there are hundreds of examples of this throughout the Egan era that are the difference between almost being relegated or winning silverware and competing in the last four.

It's not a bad group of players we have. For me the have underachieved. All of us as supporters are just trying to find ways to do better.

Final thing on the psychology point.

We're already producing players and coaching them. So is everyone else.

Waterford produce great players yet they can't win a match.

More of what we're already doing will produce the same result.

We need to constructively consider what we're not doing.

A good psychologist for me is a very simple thing we can do for an immediate improvement in our fortunes."
Clonlara in Clare employed one this year Doylerwex. They won the Clare Senior Hurling Championship at the weekend.

This worry about having oulart men over the 3 teams is old fashioned nonsense. If they are the best candidates for the job then their club should be of no consequence.

Hypothetically, are you suggesting that if an Oulart candidate was clearly head and shoulders the best candidate for the under 20 job, that he should be discarded and that we should go with a lesser option, just because they come from a different parish? If so, why?

I dont mind what clubs managers are from as long as they are the best men to lead us forward.

Agree where a candidate is from shouldnt matter. But there was two other interested parties also in the U20 job so to say there is no one else isnt true, three separate candidates were interviewed.

Rossiter showed with his 2 years with the u20s that he picked what he felt was the best team to get a result on the day club was irrelevant, in the 2 Leinster finals lads from Rosslare, Horeswood, Clongeen and Duffry all figured. Was a good spread of clubs on the minor team this year too to be fair.

You want hurlers who did it at the top level over your top teams. I know top hurlers do not make top managers always but its a hell of a good start to have them involved no?
The club doesn't matter, once they don't pick all from the same club and Micheal Jacob proved last year that he put the best XV (except tonydoran fans young fellah...) on the pitch and the spread of clubs proved it did not matter a bit to him.

I think it's the case that outside of the three interviewed, nobody else was interested in taking the job. And it seems to be pretty well known who the three people interviewed were. Would have to say that from the outside looking in, Rory Jacob would seem to be by far the most promising of the three, so long as he had a strong enough backroom team around him as well.

It's not been decided who will get it yet. Hopefully the best person will get the job regardless of where they are from.
