I know but if I was a hurling fan I'd be a lot more excited about the prospect of Sheedy and O Shea than I would be as a football fan and Kearns.

Seems to be quite a lot of animosity towards this man's appointment but none from Offaly people. The post by mintyfresh (Westmeath) was very mean spirited.

There is absolutely no animosity here. I am just pointing out an observation on an underwhelming appointment. The impression from Offaly after getting rid of Maughan was a new fresh manager would be coming in to get the best out of their under 20 all Ireland winners. I just pointed out that doesn't look to be the case with what looks like a very similar appointment to the previous manager. Some would argue Maughan even has a better record. I don't think it is mean spirited to have an opinion on another county and I don't believe I was personal in anything I said. As regards your point of no animosity from Offaly people I'm sure you'll find their are very few of them that post or comment here and if you actually spoke to Offaly Gaels which I do there are many disappointed with this appointment

I was also giving my opinion. Checked his record in Roscommon with Clann na nGael. County semi the first year (2020), county final last year (2021), and was given a one year extension this year. Last year did this after losing the Shines and Harney and had to bring in eight new players to senior. This not easy to do at club level. Look at his record with both Limerick and Tipperary and it is not too shabby. Of course he lost out on the Galway position to P. Joyce.

Offaly are not a Division 3 side. Not going to win Leinster, maybe a Tailteann Cup title. It will take Liam Kearns time to know what players are willing to commit for the county panel.
Nothing assured, but it will take time. We were not going to land a top name, after Tomas O'Se's late withdrawal. Promotion to Division2, and a stable competitive championship squad, are attainable goals, and will take a few years.

Yes it will take time. I watched the Tailteann Games and saw Offaly play. The players who won the '21 U-20 All_ireland will need time to mature and bulk up. Some great young talent. This is one of my greatest objections to making it an U-20 not leaving it a U-21.
It took the young Kerry players a couple of years to mature and when they were ready the County Board dumped the man who had nurtured them.

Would not think he will be a good fit for team with highly skilled young players coming through, but time will tell.

We are in Division 3. Getting up to Div. 2, and improving standards are reasonable. The underage grades, should revert to U18, andU 21. Never saw any reason to change.
