Brian Cody steps down

A legend of a man, I wouldn't be the greatest hurling fan only really getting into it but Cody was a force of nature, I wish him well in retirement, maybe he'll still take on another job.

You have to acknowledge greatness.
For a game that prides itself on the toughness of its players the rest of the hurling world generally turned to jelly whenever they played his teams.

As a hurling fan I can only hope that we never see one county dominate the championship the way his teams did for the first 16 years of his tenure.

As for Shefflin, I'll be surprised if he's even considered, let alone his own feelings. I'm sure this situation happening would have arisen in his interview for the Galway job. As for the KK job, he's missed the boat this time. Plenty of other good candidates about."
You'd rule him completely out? I'm sure there are plenty of candidates but at the very least he's surely a candidate for it? I'd be surprised if Eddie Brennan got it for example. Doubt they will rush into it. Realistically they have a couple of months to sort it out but they won't want to delay much longer either.

Get over yourself what a great manager best of all time by a long shot broke our hearts many a time but I still see him falling to the ground when Jacob scored the goal in 2004 Leinster championship just loved hurling loved the game and loved to win .May he enjoy his retirement.

Who'd be realistic forerunners at this stage?

Mother of god what is wrong with people like you. Maybe he needed a few days to make up his mind. Maybe the co. board decided for him.

Waited 24 years just couldn't wait 4 or so days."
You are talking about Kilkenny and Brian Cody. All Ireland football weekend may enter his consciousness as much as the kabaddi championship in India.

I'd hope that no one in Kilkenny was pushing him to go. Not sure who else would be in for Kilkenny, Eddie Brennan maybe?"
Hope so; )

Fair play to him! The best manager ever can do what ever he wants! I forgot the football final was even on.

Be careful what you hope for might not work out great for us either.

Surely Shefflin is the no 1 candidate for the job

Unique, superb, brilliant, words are not enough to describe Brian Cody. Nobody will fill his shoes, ever. Can't see King Henry been considered for the next manager.

Happy retirement to Brian. I've enjoyed watching some great teams and matches he's been involved in producing down through the years. The likes of DJ, Sheff, Walsh, JJ, TJ etc etc what a memoir he must have from it all! Big boots to fill now that he's gone.

Think I'd rather him there than Lyng, who I think will get the job.

Regardless of whether Cody is there or not Kilkenny will always be All Ireland contenders… They contended before there was a word of Cody and they will contend when he is gone….. nothing much will change…

He broke our hearts in limerick on a few occasions..he has been the best gas manager of all times..he has rebuilt the cats I just don't know how many times..even last Sunday managing dj,s son showed how long he's there ..enjoy the retirement but the new manager is on a hiding to nothing..I don't think we,ll ever seda team dominate hurling like the cats..well we can dream in limerick and hope it continues..
