Basically this was Galway's first All Ireland final since 2001. Twenty one years. Kerry have been in 10 since then. So Galway up against it. But hopefully they will learn and kick on next season and go one better.

In his defence, if u were at the game you would have seen that every time a Galway player looked to get it to him there was a the Kerry sweeper in front. It ment the ball didn't go into him. He wasn't roasted but its true, he never got into the game. Conroy was disappointing but did well in general this year. Hope he stays on cause he had a huge season... Galway goalkeeper was prob instructed to act as he did. I.e come out and take ball and all. He kicked our some great ball and one or two silly ones were costly but he'll learn a lot from that. Dunmore McHales have produced some of the best footballers ever so it's great to see a member of that club in another all Ireland.

Galway didn't win in 2000 because they were playing Kerry and Joyce got no change out of Seamus Moynihan. I'm not knocking Galway, just stating the uncomfortable facts.

Horrible final for the neutral but being honest if Roscommon won an all Ireland like that I'd be happy. Hurling the winner again this year.

Congrats to Kerry and all their fans, especially CiarraiMick. Hope he is sinking a few pints tonight.
It was a much tighter affair than I had assumed. Kerry's wayward shooting in the first half ,especially theP Geaney misses signified a team feeling the pressure. But you have to hand it to David Clifford. The lad has it all in spades: a lethal combination of speed, power and an incredible mastery of all the skills of Gaelic football.
Shane Walsh -ably assisted by McDaid- is equally gifted. During that first half it was if their respective teams were merely bit part players in a dual of the highest quality .
Galway looked gassed as the second half unfolded. I think their defensive system is effective but very demanding. The contribution of Kerry's bench- plus the unnerving performance of the Galway goalkeeper proved crucial. Congrats to Pat Spillane too on his retirement from RTE. He drove me mad at times but you he was always entertaining and as a player he was gracious in defeat and humble in victory.
It's Kerry's year and on the balance of things you have to admit they deserved it.

Congratulations to Kerry the better team by a good bit. Hard luck Galway.Kerry got far more good scoring chances than Galway but were nervous and under pressure from us in the first half. If even half of them went over they would I believe have won by 8 or 10. Galway did extremely well to keep this game in the balance for so long considering several of our players did not preform on the day. Apart from Shane our other forwards hardly had a shot not mind a score. Looking forward we are in a very good place, and will be playing much better teams in NFL next year. The 3 games in Croke park will have done the players good and if Mcloughlin and Mulkerns return to full fitness we will be in contention again . A great year on the road overall, season ticket well worth the money. Up Galway.

Have to say gonna be an interesting championship next year. People saying Kerry gonna dominate now, but I have to say that it is gonna be harder for them then people think, like Galway surely will learn from this year and if they can get a few players back the likes of Micheál Daly, Peter Cooke, maybe Ian Burke and Seán Mulkerrin from injury to strengthen their panel, they still will be a force.

Dublin with Con back and if they don't have retirements will be there again. Mayo will be better and especially if they get Conroy and O'Donoghue back. Armagh probably the most unluckiest team this year. Tyrone surely there is another kick in Tyrone after winning an All Ireland they can't be as bad again next year.

Also have to say about the game, there was some magnificent performances Cillian McDaid and Shane Walsh put in two of the greatest individual performances surely from players from a losing team. Obviously David Clifford was outstanding, Gavin White for a lad that had supposedly an injury had an absolute stormer of a game and was crucial for Kerry.

Watching Connacht/Galway on the TV in Croke park over the last few weeks. Galway V Limerick in hurling semi. Well ref did not do Galway too many favours in a tight game. Galway V Kilkenny camogie semi final on Saturday. A tight game, decided by controversial ref decisions. Finally Galway V Kerry. Kerry better team, but Galway were in it until contoversial free, converted by Clifford. A hop ball would have been better in my view. I don't mean to have bitterness but it is a fact close matche decisions seem to go against Connacht/Galway. Maybe it is a lack of self belief.
I can see Dubs and Kerry dominate, unless this issue is tackled. That said, Galway must respect ref and try and get on with them if they are to progress. Maybe start offering discounts on holidays in Salthill, and free trips to Galway races- LOL

Padraig Joyce was very sick coming upto 2000 final and replay so have a bit of respect.If Kerry were such a good team at that time as you seem so adamant about why didn't they win 2001 or even come close?

Very hard luck to galway and their massive support there yesterday. Their team will be stronger next year from this.

Horrible? As neutral i found it to be a very good match with a number of good scores and the defending by both to prevent goals should be commended. It was a contest that was level with 66 minutes played before the favourites pulled away, very similar to how Limerick won against Kilkenny. How was hurling the winner?

PJ was right. It was an appalling decision with teams level and five minutes left. After that the momentum swung to Kerry. It should have been a clear free out.

unfortunately for galway 2 players is not enough to win a match only 1 other starting forward scored not good enough plus goalie very lucky not to be black carded

No, a fair shoulder, but McDaid was also hit on the other side by Barry, I think, and referees will always give a free to a player caught in a "sandwich".

What do yo mean horrible Final…. It was very enjoyable with great score taking from both teams.. Clifford and Walsh put on a super show of skill…Like my own county Roscommon won't have to worry about winning an All Ireland no matter how they play.. !!!!
