Tickets are still available for this match. Unheard of in previous years.

Eamonn Fitzmaurice made a good point on Joyce first few years with Galway. A gung ho approach he called it that wouldn't be successful in championship. Joyce has since with the help of Cian O'Neill has chosen to focus on the defensive structure of the team and that has reaped the benefits.

Endgame. White is named to start in the matchday programme whether or not that means anything..... ponga (Mayo) - Posts: 658 - 22/07/2022 20:44:10 2433616 Link 0 |
You need to cop on and show some respect. I hope that when inevitably it doesn't turn out as your expert prediction assumes it will you will come back here and eat some humble pie. Galway are a good team and deserve more respect than saying they will lose by 12 points. Its pathetic and immature

I hope the forecasted rain doesn't spoil what should be great occasion…. I seem to remember a classic match between the 2 sides in miserable conditions a good few years back…. While I think Kerry will win a bit of rain might just even things up a bit… ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3830 - 23/07/2022 08:56:31 2433624 Link 0 |

"This will be a non event". Will you watch it? Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 23/07/2022 09:52:53 2433634 Link 1 |
I watched back the Dublin Kerry semi final and my first reaction was , I fear for Galway. Those two teams were operating at level above everyone else in the championship. It is essential Galway keep it tight going in at half time and if they do pull it off it will be all the more of a remarkable achievement. I don't think Galway lack confidence but if Kerry play the way they did against the Dubs I think they'll just have too much. Hopefully, weather might have a say yet.

Good luck to both teams - hopefully we see a cracker tomorrow. I fancy Kerry now that they've beaten the Dubs but Galway are very dangerous underdogs and I'll be shouting for them all the way. I met great Galway people during our battle a few weeks ago - I'd say they're very nervous today! Enjoy the occasion! ardmhacha (Armagh) - Posts: 172 - 23/07/2022 11:21:04 2433639 Link 0 |
Dublin v Kerry was exciting but was not a top quality match. Dublin have gone back a long way but may well have beaten Kerry if Con was fit. Hard to know how good Derry were but the Ulster championship doesn't seem to have been the best. Galway are in the final on merit. Unlike their hurlers, Galway footballers tend to turn up for All Ireland Finals . Galway need big performances from players like Shane Walsh but tomorrow's the day to do it. Kerry are rightly favourites but Galway are not without hope. Should be a great match. It's been a while but there's huge history between Kerry and Galway in All Ireland Finals. Two of Galway's mid 60s three in a row wins were against Kerry.

Galway led Mayo 1-3 to 0-1 in the opening 7 minutes. Kerry was slow to start against Cork, matter of fact that match was in the balance for 50 minutes and where Kerrys better bench and fitness proved the difference.

When you say they were operating at a level above what do you mean exactly? Specifically what were they doing better? As exciting as the game was, I saw nothing that would would put fear into me from a galway perspective, and kerry totally fell apart once Dublin got the goal. Galway on the other hand have been brilliant in all our games, (except for this infuriating tendency we have to totally lose focus in the last 5 minutes of every frigging game). Good luck to both teams tomorrow, hope it is a cracker, I think Galway will need to get a couple of goals to win it, but with Comer and Walsh they are well capable of that. tireoghainabu (Tyrone) - Posts: 390 - 23/07/2022 12:16:13 2433668 Link 0 |
Some of the shooting, especially from Dublin was poor, but the speed, physicality and intensity the game was played at just seemed above the level of where the rest of the pack are at. I don't think the gap is huge but there does seem to be a gap. It makes for an interesting game. Hopefully Galway can pull it off and it would be great for football if they did.

You say operating at a level above everyone else yet neither made it past last year's semifinal. Is it only this year they kicked on?

Galway have a better attack than the Dublin team that played Kerry. Dublin's shooting was poor in the first half but Kerry gave them too many chances for a defence that's, supposedly, rated. They looked even less rated in the second half. Kerry should have been more than 5 points up and half time and killed the game off on the front foot in the third quarter but inexplicably spent most of it inviting Dublin to their goal and not feeding more ball into David Clifford. Was that Paddy Tally's influence? Didn't look like good game management. They stumbled over the line. Kerry are rightfully favourites tomorrow but their 1/3 price is a joke and insult to Galway team that have been tested many times in 2022 and look to learn and improve as they progress.
