Not heard any ore about the injury. Hopefully he'll be fit. They'll need him. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 30/04/2023 20:41:08 2474819 Link 0 |
To me, the tight game could be decided on the venue. PP was such a fortress and we gave it up to Wexford and Galway. I don't see us winning these games. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1259 - 02/05/2023 18:10:08 2475220 Link 0 |
Might beat Wexford. Not a mission against the other fellas.

You beat them more times than you beat us in the last 5 years?

Galway are better now I think, whereas Wexford and Dublin have gone back a bit. On current evidence at least. Hill is not open on Saturday which will not only further dampen any potential atmosphere but means holders of Parnell terrace passes have to buy stand. Of course we are not given that option when it comes to big football games :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 03/05/2023 11:46:25 2475366 Link 0 |
Tommy Walsh had an interesting take on the venue, he thought Micheál Donoghue might be hoping for Dublin's younger players to be able to outrun Wexford on the bigger pitch. It's an idea, but I still think Wexford will win and I'm certain that Galway will.

Yes, that seems to be the rationale among those close to the team. I can sort of see that argument, or at least the plan that this might be where Donoghue sees them going. Being able to execute that is another matter entirely, Only hint of that so far this year was in Dungarvan when Considine and O'Sullivan caused the Waterford full back line a lot of trouble.

How many do you think will be there Barney?

Be lucky to get 7/8,000. There was around 4,000 in Wexford last week and no more than that, if even, in Parnell. Has little or no neutral attraction with Tipp and Cork on same evening. Managers and players don't seem to care about how many are watching them which is fair enough. Makes for dismal night out unless game is exceptionally good and close or if your team wins!

There was 13,000 in Croke Park for the same fixture back in 2016, I remember it was an awful wet night. It really would be like a ghost town with only 8,000 there. Hopefully the watch won't disappoint

Where as 7-8k in PP has a great atmosphere, Wexford people around me here won't travel to CP for 5pm on a Saturday. They seem to always get screwed with the early throw ins but then again they aren't the great supporters they are made out to be in my view.

Too early in the year for them maybe!

I would say 5pm is okay for us travelling up. Game will be over by 6.30 and we should be home at a reasonable hour of the night

I agree with you unfortunately some of our ''supporters'' wont travel to a match unless its a Leinster final or All Ireland Semi

At least they show up at some stage of the year though, most Dubs wouldn't even go to see the hurlers when they were doing well under Dalo

Alex Considine made a good impact off the bench the last day it's good to see him getting a starting place

He is exceptional on his day. Was one of factors that turned tide for Crokes in their comeback against Ballyhale. Combined well with Purcell and Whitely that day too. I honestly have no idea what might happen to day. They are capable of a really good day, or an very bad one! Despite the bookies odds, i think it might be a comfortable win for whoever does come through this evening. Just not sure who that might be! Best of luck today, I need a victory to keep my noisy neighbours quiet. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1259 - 06/05/2023 12:06:45 2476052 Link 0 |
