Replying To Canuck:  "You probably only need your second hand. Did Kevin Heffernan in football ? Mick O'Dwyer did. Paidi ? John Keane I believe in 1948 and was involved in the 1959 team. They were not called managers then. Davy like him or dislike him deserves honourable mention."
Justin McCarthy also, all Ireland winner as player for Cork and managed rebels to all Ireland success in 1980's. He was less successful (thankfully) in stints with Waterford and Limerick. In general, I think ex players are often successful managers. Davy Fitz is no exception, he did ok in 2013 with Clare, but his stints with other counties were fruitless! Currently doing well with Cork camogie team!

Replying To Rockies:  "Johnny Clifford All Ireland winner playing and managing Cork, famously said "Cork hurlers are like mushrooms and spring up overnight " . Let's hope that this prophecy holds true over next decade, and Cork dominate hurling again!"
You have won successive u20 all Irelands. If none of those boys win a senior all Ireland there would have to be some sort of system failure somewhere. I know Limerick did, or didn't, do it after the early 90s but they were up against possibly the best intercounty team ever.

Fruitless?
He won a leinster with wexford and a munster with waterford, and in that time he was in charge of waterford only kilkenny and tipp beat them.
Hardly fruitless.

Winning provincial titles doesn't count for much! It's Liam or bust!

All I know is that Kilkenny are Leinster champions in 2022, and if they don't beat Limerick and win the All Ireland, it will count as a wasted season for them. Same mantra applies in Cork. It's probably time to disband the provincial championships… relics of a bygone age! Good luck to both Limerick and Kilkenny and it should be a cracker. I think Kilkenny will shade it!

We are delighted anytime we win a provincial final. You should be too. In the last 20 AI finals including replays you have only appeared 4 times. And your defeats have steadily got worse. 3 points in 2006. 6 points in 2013. And 16 points in 2021. At that rate you might lose your next 1 by 32 points or more! In that same time period you have only won 4 provincial titles. You should prize them as much as anyone else. Maybe even more so bearing in mind that's a pathetically small amount considering the number of clubs and adult hurlers you have!

I don't think disbanding them is going to increase your chances of an AI title Rockies. Fear you might have many more wasted seasons ahead. Maybe ye should give up hurling and concentrate on football! At least you won an AI at that since the noughties!

How come the new appointment happened so fast? Normally, we have a sub-committee and a 'process' and interviews, etc. But not in this case. Why?

Replying To Rockies:  "Davy Fitz, I don't believe was ever seriously considered. He is too controversial and divisive. Donal Óg Cusack… similar. Pat Ryan is a good choice, and will bring a seamless progression from underage ranks. Dual players like Brian Hayes may declare for hurlers , and if Ryan brings Sherlock and O' Connor on board, we may have a winning ticket!"
Davys on his way up the M7 for the next 3 years unless Eddie Brennan can worm his way in

Don't worry too much about us. We can look after ourselves. I think you should look at your own county… nothing in football or hurling in yonks!!

Maybe they should have kept Nash around a few more years. Certainly a more confident keeper than Patrick Collins. Sully wasn't slow in criticizing the training techniques of Gerald McCarthy when playing under him. What goes around comes around!

Cork have around 30 all Ireland titles. Wexford have a minuscule amount. No wonder they count scraps!

Because of our recent underage successes, under 20's etc, the appointment of Pat Ryan was expected and welcomed. Future is bright and many more all Ireland's in the offing!

No good living in the past. We have realistic expectations. Sadly for you you don't. "A season without Liam is a failure". You have only reached 1 of the last 9 finals including this 1 and you lost that by 16 points. What it must be like for you to think of yourselves as such a bunch of losers these days!!

We are well used to that. We are a small county. We aren't big headed losers living in the past!
