Replying To Lockjaw:  "I don't get this? Do you mean the armband stance? If they had any balls they would all have worn an armband, not just Harry Kane and called FIFA's bluff. That Gianni Infantino is one loathsome creep. I'm delighted his tainted World Cup is turning into an absolute fiasco. FIFA are using the Trump playbook at this stage when announcing offical attendances and it looks like Budweiser will be suing them aswell over the alcohol restrictions announced at the last minute.

The sentence, "Well done FIFA" shouldn't exist in any rational discussion. I hope both Senegal & Holland annihilate Qatar in their remaining group games too."
Of it was anyone else bar England he'd be saying what a great thing it is.

Argentina I - Saudi Arabia 2. (Messi 1 Peno)

'tis a pity Argentina can't sign Ronaldo.

Of it was the North's soccer team I'd say the same.

Not sure that would have made them any more likely to win Supersub15!!

You could very well be right Viking66 however, when they went 1 - 0 down I thought they would try and keep the score board respectable but instead they threw the kitchen sink at Argentina levelling the game at 1 - 1, a few minutes later the Saudi's were 2 - 1 up, didn't they have 3 goals disallowed for off side, as Roy Keane said,

""It's a great reminder to anyone watching the game of football that if you think you can just turn up and rely on your quality to get over the line, you are sadly mistaken."

Pity he didn't turn up for games in the World Cup instead of deserting his Country…..

Walsh, didn't know there was a place. England crying about things going on in Qatar, if they were so upset make a stance and don't go. As Souness says, no country or organisation is perfect. GAA men went to their graves without setting a foot back in Croke Park after they opened it up to soccer and rugby, that's making a stance.

Why would Argentina want to sign a petulant, self-important prima-donna who is past his best and would likely disrupt their entire system and dressing-room morale? All is not lost for Argentina. Plenty of teams have lost their opening game and gone on to have good World Cups. However, I don't think Argentina will win it - a lot of people lost the run of themselves with their unbeaten run and Copa America win. Compare their starting 11 with the likes of France, Brazil, even England and they have a few middling enough players to be honest.

From what I've seen so far, France look to be in very good nick even without the quality they've lost to injuries. I'm looking forward to seeing Brazil too. At this early stage I would predict that they'll meet in the final. But as we've seen already in thisnWorld Cup, shocks are always possible.

His teammates gave it all at the highest stage while he whined and moaned giving the manager no choice… He is the same guy who has backed Ronaldos stance, saying the club disrespected him… what tosh….which is little wonder seeing he also gave a damming interview which also led to him been kicked out of Old Trafford….

Yes he is definitely a proud Irishman. Noone is saying he's not. But he was cribbing over not getting enough pampering. The facilities weren't up to the standard he was used to where he lives. In Cheshire.
Mccarthy done right. Even if he was born in Yorkshire.

Look we're in no position to bad mouth anyone, we're in a glass house ourselves so leave the stones outside.

Ronaldo may not be squeaky clean but I'd stop short of accusing him of deserting his country.

Obviously mean Wales. Did you have an issue with that? Or the USA? Or Denmark? Or it it just England?

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one viking.

He handled it poorly, but the issue was that a team with ambition wouldn't accept training on a car park with no footballs on the world's biggest stage.

I accept Mccarthy had little choice, but to say Keane walked away is and always has been incorrect.

He made much the same point when we were hammered by Spain in 2012. He was right then too.

I'm not surprised Keane backed Ronaldo either. Ronaldo is right too. United have lost the plot.

However, you can't slag your current manager on TV and expect it to end well.

I don't agree with you, Keane was proved right, look at the way the FAI was run? the players should have stood up alongside him, we wouldn't even have got to the world cup but for Roy Keane, Quinn and his buddies hadn't the balls to speak up.
Anyway it's history now, Keane was one of the greatest players we will ever have, he is a brilliant pundit as well, some character.
I think Argentina had the chances to beat Saudi but just weren't clinical enough, I hope they can recover, Messi was very good but he is no Maradona that's for sure, I think Diego would have fought harder for the National team.

Don't get me wrong I've alot of time for Roy Keane. And zero time for the lads who were running the FAI at the time. I was sore he didn't play because he weakened the team by doing what he did. Time enough to make stands when everyone got home.

Totally right, Irish team traveled out economy class while the big wigs flew first class. That was bad enough but having to use jerseys as goal posts in a car park took the biscuit. Keane had the winning mentality and others around him let him down.
