The referee in question has also decided to step away from refereeing so clearly Hansen's comments and the inordinate delay in sanctioning him have had an effect. Imagine the media furore if Say Aidan O' Shea or David Clifford spoke publicly like that about Conor Lane or Sean Hurson and Conor Lane or Sean then quit refereeing

Replying To Breffni40:  "Ah yeah but mostly from South Dublin schools. There are probably more players from Leinster playing for the other provinces than there are playing for Leinster. It's a pro sport so ultimately it's irrelevant where they're from within Ireland"
I'm in agreement totally. Some on here would still seem to harbour an anti Leinster bias. If you are good enough, you can get on the Leinster team - and other provinces are benefitting from getting graduates of the Leinster academies. For what it's worth, I only have a passing interest in the ins and outs of how the IRFU go about their business. Gaelic games will always be my first love.

They certainly are. Sure Munster's captain Tadhg Beirne is a Leinster academy graduate from Kildare

Ah stop the drama of it all. Connacht regularly get shafted in the big games. All the time. Hansen called it out. It wasn't a personal attack on one referee.

Surely as a referee you should have a thicker skin than that

You could understand what he said but there's processes to g9ve feedback on refs. He shouldn't have done it in the press conference like he did

It was a personal attack. How on earth was it not? You're justifying his behaviour. He's an international player. He's not a 13 year old

Rugby have lost a good ref and a decent man, not just down to MH issue, fed up with online abuse of himself and family.

How so? No sport put's up with players or management taking their officials to task in such a manner. If Mack felt so strongly about issue he should have stuck to his guns and refused to apoligse taking the six week ban. Result, loss of another good ref, more will follow suit if abuse continues.

Do you really think official's set out to shaft Connacht? Their problems lie much closer to home.

Ah would they be that badly missed….. If a ref has a stinker of a game he should be called out in public the same way a player is criticised… they are being paid after all…!

Regularly get shafted. No they don't. Proof of anything that backs up that ridiculous post

Any link of anything that says they're treated differently

The drama queens on here. An average quit and now people are pointing the finger at Hansen. Get off the stage lads. This isn't junior GAA. It's professional and the ref is paid.

Ban Hansen for a few games if you wish. But the rest of the stuff included is absolutely daft. He has to do a course. And separately his teammates also have to do a course on how to conduct themselves. Pure nonsense.

Didn't say they set out to shaft them but big calls often go against them when facing the bigger teams. Hansen was right to put some pressure on.

God be with the days when you could just lock a ref in the boot of a car if you didn't agree with his carry on.
