Don't you mean FFG?

Sorry Doyler, could you be a bit more specific and call our specifically how Ireland today is the same under Thatcher?

Also when you say on the verge of collapse - what evidence do you have to point to that - it would be nice for all of us to know as I am sure like me a lot of people may have pension funds that are heavily invested in the US markets - should we get out now?

Our Unions were already weak.

They're trying their best to privatise healthcare and pensions

I think he's the most narcissistic person I've ever seen. On the other hand he was more capable than biden. I don't know much about Harris to be honest.

There's something to be said for trump and his ability to prevent war. He's the only US president in my memory that isn't a war monger.

I'm listening to news that Dublin airport may have breached the cap on numbers going through..maybe someone with more knowledge than me might answer this question..is it the only airport in the world to actually have a capacity??it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but then I'm not up to date in all this stuff..

Healthcare and pensions.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the question I (and others) have asked you about unions.

But I would say they're doing the very opposite, no?

Salintecare is a proposal to give those most in need quicker access to PUBLIC health services, with the state (taxpayer) paying private providers where necessary to fill the gaps.
The states largest current ongoing project is a public children's hospital.
More money is spent on the Dept of Health each year than on any other department. By a long long way.

As for pensions, hasn't the auto-enrollment legislation for the STATE PENSION been signed into law in the last few weeks?

There are a plethora of private pension funds any of us can invest in, but the state pension isn't being wound down or privatised by this government.

Do you want to explain in more detail what you're getting at?

Think Heathrow has them at very busy periods

To elaborate on both points,

The state pension age has been raised to 68. By the time I get there it will no longer exist. Auto enrollment applies to employers now having to enroll all full time staff in a private pension. The purpose of which is to eventually discontinue the state pension.

The healthcare one is more obvious. Public healthcare has been in crisis since 2008. There's no political will to resolve this. The purpose of which is to force everyone into private healthcare the same as the states.

I will admit it's unfair to blame only FG. Labour the greens and FF have done nothing either.

Unsustainable debt is the first thing, their education is in turmoil and they can no longer compete in the industries that sustained them.

Not at all. Many airports have artificial limits to ensure or try ensure they can cater to passengers in right way and not over burden themselves
Heathrow did or still does have a limit of 100'000 passengers per day though that can be surpassed on some days depending on business needs.
All normal depending on planning restrictions etc

Harris will be steady and will have a good team behind her. That's a better option than Trump.

I don't think it's right to say he has an ability to prevent war. Putin would have invaded the Ukraine regardless of who was in charge.

How do you know she will be steady? And indeed she'll have a good team? She had a 39% approvable rating in April, hardly an endorsement of her abilities.

When was the State pension raised to 68?
How many are prepared to pay the taxes necessary for a better public health system with more hospitals, more staff, little or no waiting lists.... ?

She was a VP in April. Quietly in the background. Unknown. Again you seem to think i am trying to say she is a female Bobby Kennedy. I am not. You seem to only look at her and ignore what Trump is doing and don't seem bothered by his poll numbers and his laughing stock of a VP choice. It's a daily comedy show from both of them.

Why is his vp choice a laughing stock compared to hers. Your bias is showing there. We won't get into her vp choice in that case.
You're saying the Vice President of the United States of America was an 'unknown'? Formerly California Attorney General and a Senator. Really? Come on now, bias again.

66 Doyler and there is no plans to do away with them. Private pensions are not about privatisation but about how states manage their finances. The model of collect the contributions today to pay for someone's pension today does not work, we have people living longer and eventually a reducing workforce, all that happens is that your kids or grandkids will face higher taxation to fund pensions in the future. People on here complain about migration but its exactly that is what is saving the economy.
Part of the reason the health service is in the state it is, is because of the strength of some of the unions you say are being weakened. Reform of the health service is almost impossible and reform is also what is needed. However the health service is also being overloaded because of the changes in our own social habits, the rubbish food everyone eats and the lack of exercise are two major contributiors. People are living longer and getting far more attention from the health services than they ever did in the past, unfortunately reform and what is needed from a health service has not kept pace. On a comparison basis we are not far off other European countries, question is are we getting value for money for the spend.

The Democrats have 4 or 5 serious candidates for the future behind the scenes. The GOP is a total mess who let Trump take over their party. It could take them years to recover from this.
