Replying To breffnibluewhite:  "yes but ref was poor lost control first tyrone red card was harsh no need for it then a high dangerous tackle around the neck from Fossa player only resulted in a yellow card was at least a black card and more a red one than the one the tyrone lad got. Having said that tyrones second red card was a disgrace elbow to the jaw a pure act of thuggery and deserves a 12 month ban."
Regarding red cards everyone knows if you touch another players face with or without force will be a red card written into the rules no sympathy for the stupidity of the full back for this. Correct decision.
Fossa midfielder was extremely lucky to stay on field personal opinion ref got it wrong and probably did add to incidents at end of game.
Second and third red card we'll second was thuggery and hopefully between a ban and if it was me would be pressing for assault charges as surely damage done to Clifford Jaw from this we dont see this guy on a filed anytime soon. Third red card again put hands on head of opponent with or without force so correct call as per rule book.
2 fossa red cards was a second yellow for david Clifford correct and Paudie placed hands on head of opponent and close to eyes hopefully followed up by GAA for longer suspension. Correct calls
4th sending off ws harshest of the lot and can't see how this was more than a yellow for this player. My opinion ref got it wrong.
Scenes and speech at end where unsavoury and took away from a good game of football that ws placed.
Also from speaking to sources there was another unsavoury incident between Tyrone teams manager and officials at end of game which cameras didn't pick up hopefully the harps manager gets a long ban for this this kind of **** shouldn't be allowed to be involved in the game.

Apart from the carry on at the end of the game I thought I thought the referee was very one sided in favour of the Kerry team.

Classic Tyrone football, game in melting pot there to be won by playing ball they reverted to the fighting, pushing, saying stuff to opponents. Can't wait to read brollys take on his beloved neighbours

yes by the letter of the law first red and last were correct bur a good referee will ignore this nonsense if there is mininal contact and let the game flow the first red card and non black or red card to fossa player which followed led to what happened later in the game a good ref would have avoided all this nonsence.

Classic football, be a long time before Westmeath and those word are in the same sentence.

Almost certain that Westmeath and thuggery will never be mentioned in the same sentence though.

No place for it on the football pitch, expect for Tyrone though.

Quick google search - few years ago granted but I'm sure not the last "horrid melee" in Westmeath

From what many are saying Tyrone got absolutely nothing off the officials. It wouldn't be the first time an Ulster side were on the receiving end at Croke Park. Many Gaels up here know there is an inherent bias against Ulster teams and has been for decades. Consequently frustration often builds as games go on and things can boil over. Having said this I have always said Tyrone as a county and their club scene need to bin some of that nonsense and stick to football as they're not bad when they actually do.

I'd be the first to condemn all violence on or off the field but no county is squeaky clean. Westmeath v Wicklow, mans jaw broke, U16 match in Westmeath match abandoned , their county board putting in place a proposal to manage underage discipline problem. Glass houses and stones.

I'm telling you

I do enjoy the huge rivalry between Tyrone and Kerry

I genuinely believe the mark left by Tyrone on Kerry GAA will always be there, they will never shake off what Tyrone did to them in the 00's and yes even in the recent enough past..

These two counties hence forth will always create sparks, be it at any level..there's an edge.

Undoubtedly with a backbone of respect but also with a bloody serrated edge.

Long may it continue

17 years ago, you really had to go back for that one.

Wouldn't have to go as far back with your own county as sadly it's a regular occurrence.

There's no doubt an unhealthy prejudice/bias aimed at Ulster GAA, based on stereotypical ignorance, and cherry picked selective condemnation.

As a Dub I get that, we are prone to very similar preconceived judgements.

A thuggish culture has crept into the GAA big time, from inter-county players getting into fights in bars to now regular fights on the pitch from players and supporters. Maybe if the Goverment reduced funding to GAA HQ for a few years, it may get the GAA authorites to come with new measures to tackle this culture. We rarely hear of this behaviour in rugby circles

Rubbish …. he let the Tyrone lads off with plenty in the first half which ultimately led to them stepping over the mark.. the elbow by the No. 14 ( who by the way is an excellent player and let himself down badly ) was a dangerous dirty act… The Tyrone club had the better balanced team but didn't keep the head when they were well in the game.. Fossa had an awful lot of average players and totally relied on the 2 Clifford's… David Clifford put on a master class and without doubt is the best forward I have ever seen playing..!

Nah google doesn't work like that i didn't have to travel back through17 years of reports or anything. Anyway, my more learned friend has given you more examples from Westmeath - by the way had Donegal paid that fine yet that was imposed for the brawl with Kerry during last years league? Was it doubled after you threw McGee in to start the row with Armagh?

There's been more examples from Tyrone in the last year than there has been from Westmeath in the last 17.

4 sent off on Sunday, 4 sent off against Armagh last year - have you ever heard the likes of it? FOUR??? You'd swear they were trying to get the game abandoned and go again...

The sad thing is that Harps were more than a match for Fossa on Sunday in terms of football, they only lost the game when they reverted to type. Hard to shake that off I suppose.

Change the record will you.

Where would these "many" be from?

As the voice of Ulster GAA why weren't you watching the game? Or as you just interested in playing the victim like always?

The game slipped away after the soft red card for the fullback (15 lucky all the other controversy means less talk about his dive) and was made worse by letting the Fossa defender off with a yellow for the second worse tackle of the day shortly after. The second red deserved everything he got and more, the third the full forward who had a great game was for a second yellow - personally i thought the first yellow in the first half was very soft but he needed to be more careful when he was already on a card.
I notice you did't reply to the bits about Donegal!

Jimbodub, there's a big difference in rivalry and thuggish behaviour. I for one have condemned what happened but of all the county men blaming Tyrone football not one of them is from a county that than kick good football. All they can say is them Ulster ones, or them Tyrone ones. It's an Ireland 32 problem.
