Galway: Footballers V Hurlers

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Galways Footballers and Hurlers have huge tasks ahead of them to win the All Ireland. Who is more likely to win the All Ireland of the two? I myself say the Hurlers are more likely of the two due to them winning it fairly recently. Either way it's going to be tough. Galway Abu.

I think the Limerick hurlers have a better chance than the footballers also..

Play both team against each other - hurling 1st half and football 2nd half.

Both codes will suffer attendance numbers this summer as the band-wagoners won't know who to hang their hat on.
The nostalgia for 98 & joyce might tip the scale towards the footballers, plus limerick are a machine in hurling...

I looked for your SUPERIOR thread and couldn't find it. Answer the question that was asked or move on it's not that complicated. You took time for your smug answer, so take time to answer it fairly if you can. Everyone is waiting.

Yet here you are. Was the question too tough for you? Take your leash off and answer it. I'll make it multiple choice if it will help you.

I dont think we will be bringing home Sam or Liam this year but at this point I'd give the footballers a somewhat better chance than the hurlers. They are on the other side of the draw to Kerry/Dublin who would probably be meeting in the All Ireland final if they weren't due to play each other in the semi final. Galway are as good as any of the other teams left in it imo so are capable of reaching the final and if they do, anything is possible at that stage. At best I think the hurlers are playing for 2nd place behind Limerick and if they dont beat Kilkenny on Saturday in what I think is a 50/50 game they can definitely be written off to reach the final through the back door imo.

Think it's a perfectly fine thread tbh, and arguments could be made for either side, and a kind draw could see both of them reaching the final.

I personally don't think either of them will be walking up the steps come July but I'd slightly favour the hurlers. I think if maybe, somehow, limerick get eliminated in the meantime, there's no reason we can't win it.

With the football however, there's far more threats. Both Dublin and kerry are miles ahead of us, and I wouldn't be overly confident if we were to play a donegal, derry, tyrone or mayo either.

Well my opinion is Hurlers will not be far off. Keep talking Limerick and Clare up.

Footballers will make an exit either Quarter or Semi..

Thanks for the great post. I don't understand the previous posters with their smug answers and nothing better to offer. Badly raised I guess. Kerry and Dublin will beat each other up and could possibly allow someone to steal it. In hurling Limerick will take some beating for sure.

Good logic. Limerick will take some beating for sure. Even if they lose to Clare they are still alive. Hard to see them losing two matches. In football I agree we need luck, no injuries, a favorable draw, etc. Thanks for the thoughtful post unlike some of the underachieving children above.

Hurlers for me, I'm expecting them to get to the All Ireland Final.
Footballers don't have a easy route even with Dublin and Kerry on the other side of the draw. They could possibly get one of these 4 teams in the Quarter Final Mayo, Tyrone, Donegal or Kildare (if not drawn against eachother)

The hurlers next match with Kilkenny will tell us if they are good enough to get to the Final. Should be a brutal match.

It will only be a dog fight if we let it be a dog fight, in all fairness Galway are alot better team and could blow them away

Not a great fan of these threads but can understand why the issue is being posed as we have not being as 'giddy' on our dual chances since 2016 and realistically since 2001. Hurlers are doing better than I thought and with Clare are the best bet to down Limerick. Beat KK without our best forward firing so a good reflection of how others can come to the fore. On the footballers we are definitely improving and it will take a very good side to beat us. Other than Kerry and Dublin we are the equal of what is left and better than most of those teams. A successful season so far with promotion back to Div 1 as well I do feel we need to make the semi final for a whole host of reasons and to springboard for a right cut it at in 2023. Would not be a bit surprised if we make the final as coming nicely together and still under a bit of a radar.
