Not sure how defining. Mayo have decent record against Kerry in the league and they have looked less than great themselves so far this year. Donegal more than likely into the final by the time they play Mayo and will rested players for that match.

Great win for St Colmans today. At least we will have one day out in Dublin this year. maccoscair (Mayo) - Posts: 10 - 22/02/2025 17:05:30 2592471 Link 1 |
Got a point should have been two. Mayo are at their best moving the ball fast. cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 503 - 22/02/2025 19:55:49 2592498 Link 0 |
I'd have taken a point at half time but Reape didn't look confident when he took the ball at the end. We looked to be running the clock down to kick and stop Armagh from getting back up to equalise. Not enough confidence there but we played some great stuff in the second half like they were told to throw away the handbrake at half time. Armagh bullied us in first half. We looked like boys to men in the second half. Should tweak the rules to make a sideline worth 2 points, much harder score than an arc 2 points.

No way should a sideline score be two points and it should be zero if the player has encroached onto the pitch before kicking the ball, no?

If he encroaches, fair point. Free out. But if it's legal it's harder than kicking from outside the arc, why I think it should be two points.

For sure a point at half time. I thought we were on a hiding to nowhere at the half. Great second half. The lads upped the tempo and it worked. Wrong man had the ball at the end and they were definitely playing to score with seconds left. Still happy with what I seen in the second half. cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 503 - 23/02/2025 06:42:24 2592549 Link 0 |
Was a good game and always good to have the mayo ones up, think a draw was fair result, alot being read into the league and I wouldn't get carried away, mayo will be there or there about a as always you are missing vital men and getting minutes in legs of players who haven't got before which is good, Armagh are the same missing a big amount of players that will come back for championship, the 2 O'Neill's, Conor O'Neill, Ciaran mackin, Aaron McKay, joey McElroy and tiernan Kelly all to come back soon, some other teams in the league are at or near full strength so Armagh and mayo have more scope to improve once they get players back hope we meet down the road at the business end of the championship for a good game and best of luck for rest of the league Liftball (Armagh) - Posts: 32 - 24/02/2025 14:52:52 2592917 Link 1 |
Donegal will be doing their best to avoid a league final - prelim round of Ulster championship is the week after league final

Yes showed that yesterday by resting a number of key players with a focus on the Ulster championship so a very winnable home game for Mayo in round 7. Derry and Tyrone I would expect to get relegated and I'd tip Armagh for the drop right now before Mayo.

Mayo v Kerry on Sunday tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1288 - 25/02/2025 15:13:41 2593168 Link 0 |
Big game up in Derry Sunday but best of luck to St.Colmans Claremorris in the Hogan Cup final on St Patrick's Day. Hopefully they can bridge the gap back to 1977. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11512 - 12/03/2025 15:32:11 2596098 Link 2 |
Good luck to St Colmans , Claremorris … hope they win and make it a clean sweep for Connacht Schools at all three levels. I assume it's going to be live on Tg4

Yes live on Tg4 on Monday at 1:00pm. Congrats to Roscommon CBS on their fine win. I say footage during the week on the 1977 win v Moate. The final was held in Hyde Park and looked to be packed. Moate seemed to be a powerhouse looking back at records (boarding school) and got revenge on Colmans in the 1981 final. The competition has been dominated by Ulster schools in recent years.

Are we getting relegated or are we going to the final? cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 503 - 17/03/2025 02:45:22 2596843 Link 0 |
I think it's a very long shot we get relegated. The main issue for me is what to do in the Donegal game? I know even a win, other results have to fall out way but do we really want to get to a league final? Thing is I'm not sure Donegal do either….could be a B v B game in Castlebar. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11512 - 17/03/2025 08:45:49 2596852 Link 1 |
Have you beat Donegal to be sure to stay up jacktheboy (Donegal) - Posts: 474 - 17/03/2025 12:11:11 2596885 Link 0 |
I think Kevin will want to get as many games as possible with his opponents in the Connacht final either ourselves or The Ross, the winner of which will have had a full tilt championship match under their belt. Mayo on the other hand could well break all winning margin records in their semi. I think its a different Story for the Donnies who will have to overcome 2 or 3 Top teams to take Ulster.

Unfortunately Yew Tree Colmans were outclassed today. St Pats controlled it almost for the duration. Congratulations to them.
