Bobby McCaul has had a huge impact and it's heartbreaking for him that he's been injured.
Hopefully it's not as bad as it looked.

Monaghan lost that in the 3rd quarter. Made a hero out of Mayo Keeper when points were the better option on more than one occasion. They showed great spirit though to bring it to the wire. I wonder did the lad who kicked the 2 pointer mis count? It sailed over.
I hope the lad that got injured will be back for next round. Hes a very good footballer.

I thought Monaghan actually had the better of the game overall. Even in the first half you had plenty possession and chances. Cut Mayo open on a number of occasions but left a lot of scores behind, most crucially some big goal chances.

Theres something in this monaghan side but its v frustrating. Law of averages says you will lose more than you win against half decent sides letting opposition rack up big leads. Goldrick has been a bad omen for years for us.

Go back to Cavan. Heartbreaking for Bobby McCaul. Please God it not as bad as it looked. To hell with the naysayers, Monaghan are going in the right direction.

... and they did step up. Clear point that was nearer the centre that the posts was in the end the difference. Too small of a county to deal with the injuries we've had. Hope Bobby McFaul's is not as a bad as it looked - he 'd have been the winning of the game in the last 15.

First up, devasting for for Bobby McCaul. Best wishes to the young man, he was box office today. OHanlon missing was another huge blow in personnel.
What a frustrating performance though. Why do Monaghan have to lose the game before playing? Only so many times that heroic losses can be applauded.
Some big players made simple costly errors, Beggan among them from first half frees. Michael Bannigan was tired looking and dropped a few short, he couldnhave off by 50mins. Plus the number of butchered goal chances did Monaghan no favours at all.
All thay said you still.have to credit this team- McGorman, Dylan Byrne, McCarville, OToole when he got to grips in second half, all did their stuff.
Hope its a big team drawn next. We may as well go down swinging.

inevitably we all know its an acl. did not look good sitting in clones. players like mc caul, conarty, clifford, kobe, con are the difference for a good team to a great team. will be a huge loss for monaghan for the foreseeable.

hard to draw positives. been 1 rotten year for luck when you think about it.

Monaghan 18 shots to Mayos 17 in the 1st half. No way should Monaghan have found themselves 11 points behind at half time. The two pointer on the hooter the difference In the end between winning by 1 and losing by one.

It is, what it is. At the end of the day, there is not one team in the Championship in a comfortable position at this moment in time, nobody is safe until the next round is played. Wishing B McCaul a speedy recovery but doubt we'll see him again this year.Hopefully all the other players out injured can return soon.
Over the years, we've played our best football in do or die situations and I don't expect anything different from this team in 2 wks. Here's hoping the Tuesday am draw is kind to us.
