Currin, Killeevan, Oram, Rock, Toome all looking for managers. Might only be hearsay though. Seems a bit early for manager talk!

New manager in killevan could really get them over the line…… On a serious note what is the way a team is promoted in junior if emeyvale win the double alot of rumours but no confirmed method. Is it highest ranked league team? Championship finalists ?

Promotion procedures are clearly outlined in a document published on Monaghan GAA website here; https://monaghangaa.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Regulations-for-League-and-Championship-2025-CCC250307.pdf Here's the slightly abridged relevant part for junior; Promotion: The winner of the Junior Football Championship Final will be promoted to play in the Intermediate Football Championship and the Intermediate League in the following year 2026. If the winner of the Junior Football League also wins the Junior Football Championship, a 'Junior Promotion Play-Off' between the beaten Junior Championship Finalist and the beaten Junior League Finalist will take place. The winner of the 'Junior Promotion Play-Off' shall also be promoted to the Intermediate Football League and Championship of 2026. If the the beaten Junior Championship Finalist is the same team to the beaten Junior League Finalist in which one team wins both the Junior Championship & League, then that finalist shall also be promoted to the Intermediate Football League and Championship of 2026. Simple so it's emyvale, Sean's or Eire og. If emyvale win both it's a playoff. Won't matter as either will be straight back down veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 846 - 08/10/2025 12:04:50 2638928 Link 0 |
The decline in reserve football could have a lot to do with it Niall?

Is that so. Then a sad state of affairs that the United Parishes second team couldn't reach either finals.

All about development… young players playing at a decent level to feed into the senior team. This is why they are years ahead of planning and development …

Probably valid enough, seems to be a bit of a roadblock from minors to seniors at club and county level - Clontibret as far as I'm aware are the only ones who've bucked the trend slightly and are integrating the minors into the senior panel much earlier than most and it's paying dividends. For a club with a small pick they consistently produce the goods.

The point still stands. I'm not Niall but I've a fair idea who you are from talking to a few up your part of the world. How's things in Tyrone? Or are you back in for the county job?

I'd lean towards saying the 4 teams left in senior all have a well integrated level of youth into the team, maybe this year more so, as you mentioned clontibret have some, scotstown's youth was on show at the weekend, mcloone have a very young team throughout and Inniskeen have a sprinkle here and there. There are very few minors around who can cut adult football instantly and they need time adjust to the pace and physicality, many times I've seen a great young player "the next best thing in the club" succumb and can set them back a year or two.

See Clontibret have made the Div 1 minor final also so there must be a good group of lads there. I believe they are to play the winners of Corduff and Donaghmoyne which was due played at the weekend. countymonaghan (Monaghan) - Posts: 311 - 09/10/2025 12:55:10 2639064 Link 0 |
Issue not with Corduff requesting 2 games don't take place in 24hours (player welfare surely) but our fixtures committee setting 2 games in 24hrs. Wasn't rocket science?

Sure minors shouldn't be playing senior these days

Where did I say it was their issue? I just said Seamus had a few lads on the senior team. Was simply just asking did any one know when it was fixed for? Speaking of Corduff, will Seamus and Rory be there again next year? Hard to keep going to the trenches and they do go their. They but huge work in and do a lot of training and work with that team. No one in Corduff could begrudge Banty a break from managing but he would say himself that its a 'bug' and his addiction to competing is unreal. Some club man to be fair to him. countymonaghan (Monaghan) - Posts: 311 - 10/10/2025 08:29:06 2639168 Link 0 |
Wasn't fixed because apparently the same Corduff minors would be in the semi this weekend and by the rumours circulating banty stepped down after the game at the weekend, I'd imagine that RG would leave with him.

I see. They were being optimistic. Yeah they are there a good length now change be needed. Where do Corduff go from here to replace them? Rumours of Lennon leaving Latton also after their hammering at the weekend. Will be a lot of managers swapping around now come November and December. countymonaghan (Monaghan) - Posts: 311 - 10/10/2025 11:56:59 2639207 Link 0 |
