Absolutely no chance Louth will take anywhere near 15,000 to this game It wont be full I'd expect 11-12k tops DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 946 - 14/05/2025 16:41:56 2609628 Link 0 |
Meath v Cork playing in Navan on same day, so wasn't an option. Louth probably thought Breffni would favour Monaghan, which is probably correct. SouthMonMan (Monaghan) - Posts: 161 - 14/05/2025 16:48:12 2609630 Link 0 |

Newry would've been ideal, but with Down playing Louth in Newry in the next game they didn't want to give Louth the experience. BrehonBlonde (Monaghan) - Posts: 114 - 14/05/2025 17:46:05 2609641 Link 0 |
Clearly we wernt going to play the game in Monaghan Down said no to Newry and can't blame them. Navan was ruled out as GAA+ wanted the game Sat for TV and Meath are playing There is a big Motor Sport event on in Cavan next weekend so it was a no go Newbridge is not even far by the way. From South Louth/Drogheda to Newbridge would be quicker than to Breffni Park, alot quicker at that DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 946 - 14/05/2025 18:11:49 2609653 Link 0 |
Also monaghan are familiar with that pitch with it being and ulster ground, less than a 1 hour from monaghan. Likewise cavan is a stretch for louth supporters. Louth are using newbridge as they have played there . It's probably the the best they could have hoped for with drogheda and Inniskeen out. It will no doubt split the crowd to 50 50 at best.
