MOR back to Monaghan is crazy talk. He left a better team than is there at the minute, why return? MOR to Meath is a more likely outcome unless he waits to see the fall out of Tyrones poor defence. Either way, he's not gona touch the Monaghan job.

My worry is WHO would at this stage? Staying in Div 1 this year will result in a negative IMO. It gives Banty & the Co Board ammo to keep things as is, while also making the job in 2023 extremely hard i.e trying to keep a team up that will no doubt be in a massive transition.

I'm worried that I've heard no rumblings of banty walking by now, the longer he has to let things settle the less uproar there'll be around him staying, classic manipulation.
As for McEntee, you have to admire him for making his decision so early to allow incoming manager/ co board the opportunity to be successful. Our shower along with Mr Ego will no doubt leave all to the very last minute hamstringing any possible candidates.

The thought of another year of Banty is absolutely horrible. I just hope the Co. Board have the stomach to do what's right. If not perhaps its time Clubs and our friends in America stood up for our players..

Replying To MalsBalls:  "what are peoples obsession with MOR?

remember Longord 2016, Down 2017, Fermanagh 2018 and Cavan 2019?

We scraped into a semi final in '18 after the easiest qualifier run and 1 flash in the pan vrs galway,

We maintained our division 1 status every year by the skin of our teeth and lucky results elsewhere just like under current management"
Ulster final 13 14 15 we didnt scrape into an all ireland semi as we topped the group of kerry kildare galway 1 point away from an all ireland final and has proven yet again with glen in derry that he has the knowhow and as someone else said no bull no spindoctoring we were cat against mayo no pace up front due to fellas not wanting to play under this setup its definitely fells like 2010 again

There is zero chance of him walking. There is also zero chance of the CB removing him. Neither thing will happen.

Replying To FootblockREF:  "I just want to expand on this a little bit. I think Monaghan are a bit like Clare hurlers in the 90's, if we don't bring the madness along with everything else, we're nowhere. And is it possible that Buckley and Sheedy being from GAA royalty, just don't get this? It might look good on a white board but it just isn't us. I'm not against tactics but you have to remain true to your identity and being from a border county and from a largely rural area, are we losing what is essentially what makes us?
I played most of my football in Monaghan but finished playing and refereed in Dublin and it was way softer in Dublin, like not even close, even the lower leagues.
Can you imagine that Bradley lad from Derry running the length of the field in Gerry McCarville or Fergus Caulfield's day?
I think we need to get back to basics a little bit.
Because for 65 minutes on Saturday, that was fairly gutless. I didn't think I'd ever say that about any Monaghan performance. But if we're putting the players in tactical straitjackets, is this what we can expect for the future?"
The "madness" you mention can't just be switched on! Obviously a lot is reliant on intent/attitude but perhaps more importantly at this level and the level of which championship football is played at is the conditioning of the players.

If we look at our performances over the year we can see multiple examples of "heavy legged", lethargic, poorly conditioned players.

WHEN HAVE WE EVER SIAD THAT ABOUT A MONAGHAN TEAM??!!

A excellent example was against a very poor Kildare team in the league where they ran us ragged.
Again against Derry there's was numerous examples of our players not being able to get a hand on a Derry player running up the pitch, Boyle vs Rodgers a prime example.
Then finally on Saturday we got ran over all across the pitch.

We need someone to really freshen the thing up. MOR had the stones to drop Finlay & freeman and later mone & Corey etc in favour of younger lads. He brought fellas seemingly from the blue like Donaghy in the ulster final. I don't get the feeling from this set up that they are as in tune with the wider panel preferring to stick with the tried and trusted time and again. A new pair of eyes is needed and maybe someone not connected with recent teams

ok obviously i understand what Malachy done, specifically in 2013 and '15, but no ulster finals in 4 years was a very poor return with one of the best ever Monaghan teams. it had definitely gotten stale towards the end and there was a huge over reliance on mcmanus.

However, banty's clearly not the man for the job either. Unfortunately we seem to be stuck with him now.

The main thing is that the coffers are full and the Banty isn't costing the county board a penny so people on here need to cop on if they think Banty is going to be shown the door.. sobbering as it is we need to suck it up and face facts that were sinking into an abyss fast with this current set up and there is damn all we can do about it…blame the ref, blame the pitch, blame the weather, blame the ball being soft, all reasons why Mayo beat us!!!

Ah come on, this excuse of 'not being fit enough' is a cop out. Do you honestly think these lads aren't supremely conditioned? Of course they are. Boyle got outpaced down the line against Derry, it happens.
The reality is we're just not that good anymore. Tough pill to swallow but it's true. We were lucky to have, what I would say, the best player in Ireland for 3 or 4 years in McManus, which ultimately propelled us to great heights. However, Father Time has caught up with him sadly, and naturally we're back to being just an above average team.

It's not "a cop out" it's stating what would appear to be facts.

Were we out worked in the majority of our games this year? YES

Has workrate a direct correlation with fitness levels? YES

Were we obviously caught out chasing and subsequently losing a flat out foot race in various positions of the pitch, has the ability to repeat sprints anything to do with fitness? YES

Did I state fitness was the only issue? NO

I agree with you. I think the spine of malachys team eventually have dwindled. I don't think it's fair to name the guys on this forum given their sacrifice and commitment to the cause but in reality their is at least 7-8 players spent at inter County level. Coupled with a few more who have completely lost form in the Jersey. They havent really laid a punch on championship football since 2018-armagh last year the exception. The worrying thing for me is I don't see much coming through that gets the pulse going. Monaghan is a small county with a limited playing pool. The next 4-5 years will be interesting on where monaghan go. But I think most supporters will agree, playing personal and management need a shake up.

When are Monaghan going to do the championship draws? Every county in the country has them done already

Anyone here going to tell me that we couldn't have a go like Clare did today? It's not the players, we're not as good as we were 5 years ago, we know that, it's the tactics! When are we just going to go for it? 4th year in a row were we surrendered meekly.

i'm sorry, i cannot let this pass.

This must be the most spiteful post ever and that is saying something.

If a sponsor who is spending big money on the good of the county team over the last number of years
want to send tweets from the moon or Timbuktu let them.

If i was a sponsor and saw a post like this, i would' not be renewing my contract.

we are facing a massive recession and should only be to glad to have big sponsors on board.

Couldn't agree more.

I've always said sponsors , no matter how small or large is a exceptional show of support to a gas team, club or county. They get no credit and little too no value for there investment.

The odd tweet is the least they deserve!

Couldn't agree more, the Monaghan Twitter and Facebook has turned into QVC channel,
Think it's a very sad to see
Back on the football front , hear a certain ex Armagh footballer currently managing in the county has an interest in the Monaghan job if banty was to leave

It's twitter and facebook perhaps your expectations are the problem.
