Replying To Ban:  "Yea - I think its banana's that new jerseys are not realised before Christmas. Maybe highlights the difference between business minded County Boards and non-business minded.
Over the last few years Counties like Limerick, Tipp footballers and Cork have realised special once off jerseys with an historic reference.. The reality is they were done for financial gain and they were successful..

I know in Meath we had a special edition ladies jersey to commemorate their All Ireland and it flew off the shelves in the run up to Christmas. Even got my better half from Cavan one seeing as she cried the day they won it..... When i got it they said they couldn't keep the jersey on the shelves and everyone wanted it

But delighted that Masita who are based here in Meath are getting a nice little bump in Revenue from it and hopefully our girls got a few bob for their troubles into a holiday fund or something.

The Roscommon jersey with the map of the clubs on the back was a lovely jersey. A bit of thinking went into that. The front of it looks good too. Selling new jerseys after Christmas is surely cos people will buy the old and the new. Up to those that buy but a few quid more should trickle down to the County Board?

Teams could definitely do more with retro jerseys etc.

Cavan had a lovely 1947 replica made by retrogaa back in 2012/13. Not available to buy anymore tho.
It's 75 years this year since the famous Polo Grounds win. Would be an ideal time to release another one.

We might even draw from the communion money if it was particularly lovely.

I would love to be able to buy a retro jersey that is the same as the jersey they are based on. Any special edition retro jerseys I have seen onsale always seem to be a bit different to the actual jersey they are supposed to be a retro of. For me I would love to be able to buy a jersey identical to Meaths 87 jersey.

It would be a nice 1 to have for sure, get it framed and hang it in the hallway.

Will we ever again see an allireland played in a foreign country, maybe they might go back to America in 2047 for the centenary.

Doubtful.

82000 in Croker at 80 quid a pop would be hard matched in any American stadium with a big enough playing surface.

I'd imagine they'd more likely do an exhibition game or a league game etc like what they did in 97

True, I see the NFL send a lot of their teams to play in England, now that's a lot easier as the pitch sizes are pretty semilar.

I know the all-stars go traveling and they had the 12 aside hurling exhibition, but it would mean a lot to Irish abroad if the gaa sent a few games, I'm sure the players wouldn't mind either.

Jay's when you think of the journey the Kerry and Cavan lads had to indure back in 47 compared how fast the journey is now.

Well that too. .
While the 1947 trip was, of course, a million miles away from the type of journey it was commemorating, it would still have been seen as a poignant gesture by the organisation given the effort involved.

If the same were to happen nowadays, it would be lambasted by some as a publicity stunt, a jolly-up etc. Sponsors would be sure to get their cut and fundraisers would be organised the length and breadth of Manhattan.

That's true, they'd have to make a big media event out of it. Hopefully we'll be around to see it.

Nice jersey, thanks for posting. I had one when I was a kid but this is a bit different, crest is different, the original had no pattern on the back and the trim around the collar was gold. I'm not sure why they just can'tt make them identical to the original jerseys their a retro of.

This site has a 87 replica as well as many other counties. Not sure of material but they look great

The reason so many counties opt for O'Neills time and time again is actually because a lot of county boards sold the rights of the crest to O'Neills so another company cannot use it. I know some ladies county teams had sponsorship contracts with some of the lesser known brands such as Masita/Bodibro and so they actually weren't able to play in their co crest because O'Neills now have the monopoly on jerseys. I don't think every co has sold it but certainly a good few.

Yeah it is. The collar is lovely on it.
It really looks like a Boca Juniors jersey now with the darker shade of blue and the 3 white stripes on shoulders.

That's true it does, it was probably an Irish priest now that took a load of old Tipp Jerseys to South America 100 years ago that was the cause of that :-)

Our neighbouring club An Gaeltachts Jerseys are the very same as the River plate Jerseys, I find it hard to say but they're pretty sweet.

Thanks cockney-cat, I don't know if I like it, I haven't seen it up close in person yet but from the pictures iv seen it looks very busy to me there is a lot going on.

Maybe it's a tactic to distract the opossision :-)
