Replying To Bruno@1:  "Ronan Wallace,Mattie Whittaker,Sam McCartan,Charlie Drumm and Brandon Kelly should all be nailed on for all star nominations but history will show for the last few years actual all stars are selected from the bigger teams who ho far into the championdhip. All stars should he selected now.Hopefully Ronan and Mattie will get the nod but Sam and Charlie are well in the mix as well.Actually the whole team/squad deserve an award for effort and enjoyment that they gave to the county and us supporters."
By your reckoning we should definitely get 2 All Stars for making the last 12 of the championship? Would the other 11 counties not feel similarly?? Four nominations would be fantastic, can't see us getting more than one and one would be brilliant, there's a lot of football to be played yet

Not all 11 won 5 straight championship games or a provincial title. I don't think there's any way we get 2, but narratives play a big part in these things and our story will get us 1. I'd vote for Whittaker but I think Wallace will get it. Both very deserving

Agree completely. Some are looking at this through Maroon tinted glasses which is only natural given our exit is still quite fresh. We'll do well to get 1 all star (Brandon Kelly has the best chance). Wallace and Whitaker nominations but i reckon that will be it. You really need to be starring from quarter final onwards to make an impression for All Star awards and in the end the judging panel may decide to give one to the likes of Westmeath to acknowledge the year we have had.

Agree narrative plays a huge role Louth had the same season last year and got 3 nominations and 1 all star so I'd imagine it will be something similar for us

Replying To Temple56:  "Rumours are circulating that the club championship might be pushed back. I've no issue with that if it gives the county lads a chance to recover, but the county board really needs to communicate with players as soon as possible. Club players were given two possible timelines:

Option 1:
Westmeath knocked out before the All-Ireland semi-final.
Hurling would start on the 4th/5th of July, with football beginning the following week.

Option 2:
Westmeath reach the All-Ireland semi-final.
Hurling would start on the 18th/19th of July, with football the week after.

I'm fully in favour of pushing things back to allow the county players a break, but club players deserve clarity. Many have held off on booking holidays or planning events all summer, and they need to know where they stand."
There's an Option 3 now which is being used.
4/5th July -R1 hurling
11/12 July -no fixtures
18/19 July - R2 hurling
25/26 July - R1 football

You obviously don't understand what an all star is
Whittaker came off in at least 3 or 4 games. Wallace played great., but not even close to be an all star.
Brandon Kelly is miles the front runner.
You do realise he is top scorer in Ireland from play.
Unfortunately we're out. So that won't continue.
