well done to the downs . i was at the offaly final . tullamore are a dogged outfit but i wouldnt see them troubling the downs in mullingar

Very entertaining county final. A couple of scrappy goals and some poor decision making from CK at crucial times was the difference. Thought the ref was poor enough as well, have a lot to the Downs that wasn't reciprocated the other way and Loughlin seemed to be allowed to take as many steps as he wanted

The Downs thoroughly deserved to win. But the concession of multiple 2 point frees is a major concern going into Leinster.
Everything else is firing though and they have real chance of becoming the second club in Westmeath to win a Leinster title.
The Downs win championships properly. Win every match and lift the cup. The last 4 Westmeath senior Football champions have not lost a championship match I think and have won the competition without losing any game.

It was sorted after 20 minutes or so. A hard first 20 minutes to listen to.

Entertaining final but I don't think The Downs were ever in trouble really. Fair play to Kinnegad for making a game out of it. The Downs can go on to dominate for a few years if they can stay together. A lot of good young footballers blended with the experience of Loughlin and Lynam. Good work at underage too. I was really impressed with Dean Egerton at full forward.

There's no reason why they can't go on a good run in Leinster but Tullamore are a very good team. They have had a similar season to the Downs so that will be a tough first test for them.

4 soft Goals from the Down, facilitated by awful conditions. Going in 6 points down at HT with a strong wind to their advantage, C/Kinnegad just did not get the rub of the green. The Downs certainly were there for the taking. Credit to Eoin O'Brien who never let Luke Loughlin out of his sight, credit to groundsmen who had the pitch in great shape considering the weather and credit to that massive crowd that turned out.

Entertaining Senior final considering the poor conditions. The Downs are deserving champions, best team all year. Tom Tuite and Egerton were excellent.
Kinnegad played well, Darren Giles was my man of the match. Also Eoin O Brien done a fantastic job to keep Luke quiet but the goals were really soft. Luke got away with taking 10 steps for one of the goals. Kinnegad were probably hard done by the referee at times. Poor taste from a Murtagh woman shouting insults at the Kinnegad crowd at full time. The Downs should give Leinster a good rattle.

Having watched games this year is it fair to say Barry Pierce is our best referee now; thought he had a really good Intermediate Final; allowed the players to play on the edge in terms of physicality and displayed common sense when playing advantage; didn't keep his hand up for 30 seconds like some referees are. He's tight on the rules but definitely got the over carrying call right at the very end also. How his linesman failed to notify him of Shandonaghs obvious breach deep into injury time could have led to very controversial scenes had they ended up winning the game.
