Why should we realise fixtures in advance ? Is this seriously a response from people. Of course players want to know what day they are playing. Dual players play weekend on weekend so not knowing when they can, go means they can't plan anything until 2.5 weeks out.
That means young players can't buy tickets to events in advance and older players have to organise a family trip on 2.5 weeks notice( if there lucky). 2.5 weeks from a trip away or down the country is going to be more expensive due to less availability at times too.
Players work weekends too and some rosters are done well in advance and depending on the boss/manager being a Gaa/sport person , swaps could be hard.
It's not difficult to do send them in advance and there's no benifit to waiting. Other counties do it and the players love it. Teams, management, players can plan the year ahead.

Last few years the Ros Group fixtures in the 3 main Championships, venues and Referees were issued in early July with the 1st rounds being played 1st weekend August .
It certainly beats waiting for a message on a Monday night to see if there's a game at the weekend, which of the 3 days, what time, what competition....

I suppose you're right in that a player could book a weekend away for a week he knows he's playing on a Friday but generally would think this is still entirely possible with nearly 3 weeks notice. I suppose we should have all the fixtures for set for the next 5 years of championship sure down to the hour and the referee. You get awfully insulted about being asked questions and very emotional over a gaa forum."
What about a wedding or a christening or a concert or a stag or a golf outing.. Wouldn't it be nice if a player had a child and wanted to book a christening if they more than 3 weeks in advance that ye I'm free that Sunday.. Or maybe Garth brooks comes back to Ireland.. do you but tickets for every night until 2 weeks out when you find out what night you can go?
Let's look at clubs then Castletown and Malachys for example.. players works weekends and evening shift wants to know what nights he's training for the next month.. but impossible to schedule as castletown could be out on a Sunday followed by Malachys on Friday..
It should be very easy to put a master plan out for the year with days.. Mark it provisional and send out to all clubs to go to players.. objections then to be raised and schedule revised and set.. if you don't object because of a wedding etc then tough.. Only exceptions then would be a death

Put your name forward for fixtures secretary for 2026.Its going to be wonderful to have someone in that position who understands the fixtures situation so well and will finally sort out the years old conundrums.
