Don't think he played revolutionary attacking football during his time in charge tbh. His last few club sides have been fairly defensive as well.
The basketball analogy is strange in any case, that sport is notoriously fast paced and high scoring.

Football is basically turning into basketball on a big pitch though, so Pat is probably 5-6 years behind the idea. Football is 15 on the defense then 15 on the attack, Dublin brought in basketball coaches to see how can they exploit space. So a Basketball style play is actually killing the game. The new rules are needed so badly in Gaelic football as much as i was against change before but its 100% obvious the game needs something.

He didn't win many friends for Pearses with his football style while he was manager there!

No but he did win 2 Roscommon senior titles and a Connaught senior title when he was there so do you think their supporters were complaining about the style of football when they were celebrating these championship wins-think not.!!

Big weekend ahead, in the senior I can see Lomans winning while the other 2 games in group A could easily be draws which will see Kinnegad and Athlone into the QF. In section B I think Shamrocks and Downs will win to seal their QF spots while Moate should have enough to beat Shandonagh and stay up.

Intermediate is looking tricky to call, Garrycastle already through so maybe Tubberclair can get the win they need as Milltownpass will beat Castledaly. Can see Milltown edging Rosemount to make it to the Semis as Rosemount are missing another 2/3 starters since the last game. In section B Multy should take Kilbeggan and go through with St Marys.

Junior seems fairly set as I cant see Moate or St Pauls getting the wins required to edge into the top 4 while the current top 4 in section A look likely to remain the same I think

Lomans V Tyrellspass, Lomans win at a canter, a chance for Paddy Dowdall to try out bench players before semi, Lomans by 10
Caulry V Kinnegad, now is the time for this Caulry team to take to next level, this represents an ideal opportunity for Flanagans men, Caulry by 3
Athlone V Tang, Tang in Cusack, need I say more, Athlone 8
The Downs V Killucan, two teams in decline like there neighbours Kinngead, all the hallmarks of a low scoring draw
Shamrocks V Malachys, Shamrocks cant be removed from top, dead rubber, Shamrocks by 3
Moate V Shandonagh, this is the Everton derby two big club but largely inconsistent in the bottom half, Moate by 2

Lomans V Tyrellspass. Lomans by 5. i reckon players will be rested but they will still have enough.
Caulry V Kinnegad, going for a draw here. Will be very tight affair i reckon.
Athlone V Tang. Athlone by 3.
The Downs V Killucan. The Downs by 2.
Shamrocks V Malachys. Shamrocks by 5.
Moate V Shandonagh. Shandonagh's backs are to the wall. Have to win to force a playoff with same opposition (i think). For the craic gonna go for a Shandonagh win by 1.

How can Paddy Dowdall run his bench in a game of zero importance when the club's eyes are also on the junior championship? They've used only 18-19 players in the senior and that won't change in the round robin stages. Ryan Jones. Chris Gilbert, Tristan Graham, Cillian Plunkett and co will be saved for junior championship. It beggars belief that anyone would claim The Downs are in decline. County champions two years ago, a young squad and their underage structure is extremely strong, regardless of weekend's result they're one of the top 3-4 clubs in the county.

Fola, Foy, Mousey, Eoghan Hogan, Kelvin Reilly, Sean Flanagan.
Ive named 5 players that didnt start in last game so they used 20 at least.
Downs relegated last year and beaten by Shamrocks recently tells me theyre gone backwards since 2 years ago.
Shandonagh underage structure is extremely strong too but that has no bearing on the senior team now.

Is it a playoff or do Moate go down? I think H2H applies and it's only playoff it's score difference but happy to be corrected

The most predictable predictions on the internet every week.

Loman's = world class
Caulry = class
Kinnegad, The Downs and Killucan = decline
Tang = Cusack Park

Impressive CV until he left a club in the lurch 4 days after agreeing to take the job to go to a BIGGER club. The BIGGER club was Sarsfields Newbridge who are the most successful club in Kildare. Lasted 1 year in Newbridge and now he has Caulry with near as many county footballers as St Loman's to work with on the brink of relegation!!
