Replying To southmeathgael:  "They have, but this isn't that team. They are still a good team but all ireland QF max at the moment. Rebuild is on so a bit of patience needed."
Oh, I know. Meath are favourites to win Leinster.

I was being facetious, given the source of the comment. Possibly a stint in two might not do Dublin any harm. It is still a competitive grade but allows more space for revamp which is only in early stages. Underage is sadly lacking and has been for a few years. That needs to be corrected first.

As above, it is good to see that their retain the spirit and heart that ought to be the default of any Dublin team. Can't ask for any more than that.

100% - we will be lucky to get a Leinster title out of this current Dubs squad.

Once again we are over reliant on Con...

This is a rebuild and as you say, patience is required.

Love to know where our conveyor belt disappeared to...??
Oh wait... ;o)

Pretty toothless upfront, decent buildup, but really shocking wides and balls dropping to keeper. Ball handling in particular was pretty juvenile. I am afraid we not even nearly good enough.

Fully agree.
About a 45% shot success rate - 9 wides and 8 dropped short.
Trying to force 2 pointers... madness.

As I said ages ago - how we let our underage slip so badly is mind boggling...
DCB seem to be addressing it now but it will be a few years before we see the benefits of it.

But hey, we are still contenders according to some. And will be there or thereabouts...

I think you are right about Div 2 for this Dublin squad.
It will give them time to breathe and develop.
We are no longer Division 1 standard unfortunately.

Patience is the main thing now....

Massive result for the Rossies - fair play to them.
Makes our task even more difficult now though.

Dont be so negatve Fionn. Are you saying
David Byrne,Murchan,Howard,McMahonClancy,POCB,Scully,Bugler,Kilkenny,Basquel,Con,Costello,Small,Breathnach are division 2 standard?.
Not a hope.Yes we not the team we were but we still a division one team and on a given day can beat anyone.
Next weekend we can beat Kerry.Maybe not in championship but at mo we can.Kerry are missing players in crucial positions like midfield and half back line and their full back Foley got injured last night.
I think we can beat Kerry Roscommon and then we should be safe and no reason we cant take Armagh or Galway either.

I certainly tbink we will win at least two of the last four games.

Did I name players - I said the Squad....

Were you at the game last night.? We were terrible. Monaghan the worst team in Division 1 should have beaten us.

If you think we can beat Kerry next week... Really.??? I would be more than shocked...!
Do you reckon kerry are gonna come with an under strength team to play the Dubs in Croker ???

Have you seen the quality of some of the teams in Division 2. Clearly not...
At present I would put Tyrone, Derry and Meath ahead of us.

This Dublin squad at present is Division 2 standard.
We have one stand out player CON.
There is very little left in the tank of the players who have won it all for us.
It is what it is.....

Cannot see Dublin beating Kerry unless Kerry put out a weaken team. Your going to have to beat Roscommon away, not an easy feat?

Yes I was at game and yes we were lucky.Monaghan could have scored a few goals but I think with the win under our belt we can drive on.I honestly think we will up our game for Kerry and if Ger selects the right team we can win.No one gave us a chance last year and we done them in their backyard.
IKerry can win but so can we.I wont be shocked either way.

It will be a tough game alright and they will have their Brigid's players back for that probably.

The Dublin v Armagh game is massive now.

Of our remaining games, those 2 matches imo are less difficult than Kerry in Croke Park and away to Galway.

But sure, time will tell.....

Hope everyone is well. Dubs are nowhere near good enough to be in the conversations for Sam but we had an amazing 10/12 years. A few years in the shadows now ahead but delighted with Ger Brennan at the helm. A great Dublin man

Good man Waynol - how is it going pal.?
Long time no hear....
Exactly - Ná bí brónach go bhfuil sé thart, bí sásta go bhfuil sé tarlaithe

Yes, Dubs fans need to be realistic... we are nowhere near where we were or where we need to be to win SAM.
I have no shame in saying where we currently rank or who is ahead of us.

We won 8 AI's in 10 years and 6 in a Row. Time for a bit of reality now.

Being in Division 2 for a year would do this new Dublin squad no harm imo.

All good here pal. Gave up my season ticket recently. The love for it just isn't there anymore. I went from not missing a game home or away for 14 years to just meh. I met someone, bought a house, had a baby (who's 4 now) and changed career so I don't have the time or to be honest, the will to keep making the effort. I feel like I've seen it all. I still go now and again but I don't miss it like I thought I would.

I think the straw that broke the camels back was when we returned after covid and we could go to games again. We played Armagh in the national league at Croke Park, turned up expecting a huge crowd, there was 22000 there. Soulless. I left that night thinking I don't think I'll I just don't think I'd care if I didn't go to the next one, and I didn't, and I think I've been to 3 games since.

From what I see, the league games in hq are still soulless, football in general is quite boring and I think for me, the odd game here and there is enough.

I do think though, infact, im convinced that if Dublin are going to compete again, there's no better man to get them there than Ger. It'll take time however but bearing in mind what we've seen since 2010, we will be patient and I don't think we will go 16 years for an all Ireland again like we did between 95 and '11

We might win a hurling Leinster before next football.

Yes, Croke Park is depressing these days. Diehards squeezed together in section of Hill and similar number scattered in increasingly sparse lower stands. Was there even 15,000 last day, and a lot of that was Meath who are starting to come in numbers,

Hopefully, Saturday will attract 30,000 or so for the biggest league game for both teams this year, Of course if it was properly marketed it might get 40k but they won't bother, That's only for the concerts and other sports.

Well congrats x4.... you could have your kid playing for Meath in the future.... lol ;o)

A lot has changed since Covid tbh. It really knocked the **** out of a lot of things.
Only recently are things and people really getting anywhere near back to the way it was pre Covid.

With the lower crowds now going to Dublin games it is just a pity we dont have a stadium of our own to cater for say 20,000 fans. Cant see any stadium development happening now....

Ah the game has changed a lot. The 2 point rule needs a couple of tweaks but it is the biggest game changer imo.
A lot of teams have really taken advantage of it, whereas we look like we are new to it in comparison.

As I have said many times, we took our eye off the ball at underage.
We have very little coming through. Shockingly very little.
It will be about 5 years before we see a big improvement there.

Interesting listening to Ger's post match interview where he seems prepared to take the risk of relegation if it means a better run in Leinster. And I fully agree with him on this. We just need to be patient with him I guess and trust the process.

A few of the regular diehards still go to the Hill, even in atrocious conditions. I have to admit I much prefer the previous GAA calendar. Absolutely no room for injuries now at all, with the condensed season.

I think our Hurlers have the right man in charge. Really hope we can win another Leinster in Hurling.
And I wouldnt be one bit surprised if we win a Leinster Hurling title before another Leinster Football title..
Now who would have thought that a couple of years ago.. Times have really changed... ;o)

Very good point about the marketing of it now Barney...
You dont hear a thing about the Dublin or a lot of other games anymore.
I remember a few years ago the Spring Series for the Dubs was a big thing, whereas now...... ;o(

We probably need a good spread of different All Ireland winners now in both codes.
It would defo increase the support from other counties attending games throughout the season.
I think I read somewhere that total attendances for 2025 was up on 2024.

But as you say, HQ now has other sports and concerts to supplement them & make them happy.
