Yeah the Con issue keeps rearing it's head re injuries. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if he jacks it in after this season. I do think we will beat Louth on Saturday though, if all the negative talk since the win over Wicklow does not light a fire inside each and every squad member then I don't know what will! A good win against tough opposition would be just what's needed to get this squad up and running, build some confidence and start looking ahead. I don't even want to contemplate a loss.

I don't think anyone can fault their spirit. They have never given up in any game. They are just not good. Will probably go down on Saturday as it is first time for a long time that a Dublin football team is in one of those Al Pacino moments where they are facing existential life or death on the pitch! Expect there will be a big crowd and hope they can come out the right side of what could be one of the games of the year. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4550 - 29/04/2026 10:34:07 2669701 Link 1 |

I think if our footballers lose to now favourites Louth, there will be more than Con having thoughts about retirement at the end of this season. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 5280 - 29/04/2026 11:30:26 2669716 Link 0 |

Con needs to be rested or his Hamstring injury will get worse. Look at poor Luke Loughlin - season over in April with a Hamstring injury ;o( Need Ciaran back to bolster our weak midfield area. And hopefully a couple of the other walking wounded can return. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 5280 - 30/04/2026 08:46:55 2669902 Link 0 |

No sign of Gannon. That's not good. Need him badly but at this stage seems unlikely we'll see him.

There will be a response from Wexford in the Dublin game I reckon. They are not as bad as that last showing tbh. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 5280 - 01/05/2026 10:27:02 2670119 Link 0 |

Lee is not far off a return apparently. This game was just too soon for him Barney. I would love to see him stay injury free. Class player. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 5280 - 01/05/2026 10:29:04 2670120 Link 0 |

I dont think you realise the worst thing about that result Fionn. Kilkenny were poor. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 20640 - 01/05/2026 17:32:29 2670241 Link 0 |

Is there any chance he would come back? Not many lads have ever won a Corn ui Dhuill medal and Leinster u20 Hurling and Football medals in the same year 2 years later.

That squad is good enough to beat Louth. I was wary of Meath but I dont think Louth are as good as they made out to be .Dubs by 4 oe 5 points is my forecast.Paddypower has Louth favourites and not one Leinster team in top 8 contenders for All Ireland with the bookies. They even have Cork ahead of us.Id fancy Dubs every day against the Langers.

Meath on their day can be excellent and very dangerous, but Louth are more consistent and experienced. It'll be interesting to see how Louth deal with the dynamic of being expected by many to beat Dublin. They have some quality players though and a strong midfield. They struggled in the first half of last year's Leinster final, but the goals kept them in touch. However, they got a real grip around the middle in the second half and should have won by more to be honest in the end. They were much the better team in the second half. Dublin's midfield has been patchy to say the least, so if they don't get their fair share, Louth are well able to build a big score. I think there will be very little in it. It's a shame Brennan isn't on the sideline for this one, but his knowledge of Louth will be useful. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 3038 - 01/05/2026 19:15:05 2670260 Link 0 |

I doubt it, He seems tortured with injuries and what not. Whitehall had the makings of a decent senior hurling team with himself, his brother, Costello, Daire Gray and O'Donnell and others and had they concentrated on that they might have thrown a shape at a county championship. Think they survived in Senior last year after being promoted. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4550 - 01/05/2026 20:12:16 2670273 Link 0 |
